kinda the opposite. I find if I hang out with confident, intelligent, upbeat people I feel like a world beater and I'm a little honored that they see me as a peer, but then again I've been pretty much on an upward swing this last year.

  • When I go into survival mode for emergencies.
  • When I'm uncontrollably angry.
  • When I don't have time to think.
  • When I talk to foreigners who don't speak English.
  • When I'm with friends (pack mentality).
  • When I know I'm better than someone at something.
These are all fleeting moments generated by unpredictable circumstances. I have little control over triggering these moment of bravery myself.

Apart from that, pretty much nothing else makes me confident. No matter how much I know the material etc, if I'm "dumb"[er] than everyone else then my confidence goes just like a bullet.

Anyone share/relate?
Ditto to all three, and wearing a killer outfit and makeup that I feel hot in

Incredibly the same for me with every single one you've listed.

I find that some songs can give you confidence, these are a very good help.

When I get a compliment about a particular talent or skill, like teaching. Knowing I'm being appreciated and that I'm being of some help to someone really makes me feel like I'm worth something and I'm doing something right.

Surprisingly, confidence is something I don't really lack since I'm mostly in an arrogant mode (so here would probably fit some of the feeling superior things that were mentioned by some).

In my case is more like a constant lethargy caused by depression and hopelessness so it's not that I'm not confident in doing some things, but more like I don't feel like doing them; might sound weird, but it happens.

Nothing really makes me really confident, at best I feel a little more confident than usual, but it's a fragile state. Most of my "confidence-inducers" have been listed already but here are some:
- Being part of a group that I feel relatively comfortable in
- Anger
- Helping students with projects etc
- Days when I feel better than usual about my appearance

That's something really I hate. Usually it's OK but I sometimes have a lot of trouble being understood by non-English speakers, partly because of my accent, partly because I tend to speak too fast. It's incredibly awkward when someone doesn't understand what you said 3 or 4 times in a row I think my record was trying to tell an Austrian guy the name of a colleague - it literally took 10 attempts for a single word!

1. My academic performance- Knowing that I'm above average gives me confidence.
2. My sanity- College kids are nuts!
3. My job-I really like the people I work with, though the pay sucks!
4. My new figure- I've recently lost some weight, and boy, I've got Marilyn Monroesque proportions!
5. My writing capabilities

Those are just a few things that bring me confidence.

I'm confident about things if it's something I'm familiar with or am knowledgeable of. That goes for just about everyone I guess. With my current job I have to go about faking a certain level of confidence for reassurance. I'm pretty bad at it tho...heh.

Recalling the Red Sox winning the World Series in 04, just thinking that anything was possible...

Thinking about my college running days, especially when I won my last race as a senior (after I didn't make the team as a freshman) and my teammates were cheering my name...

Knowing that in eight months I'll be in grad school and have a whole new set of surroundings, friends, and inspirations...

Knowing that I still have my first kiss to look forward to, whenever the hell that is...

Knowing that I am a fountain of untapped potential just dying to be released...

"The world is changing...the old era is ending...the old ways will not do" - John F. Kennedy
