Question What Gender Triggers Your Anxiety?

For me, whenever there's a group of male and female friends heading my way, I get nervous. Especially if they're around my age. I also don't like running into a group of young boys. Men don't bother me. So I guess both genders can trigger it but it depends on their age. You?

I'm the same as you. I get really anxious around young people of both genders - teenagers freak me out. Anyone over 20, I'm generally better with.

Basically the same, group of males/females together are the worst, then a group of females (usually I just put on my "I'm cool" face and hope they're not judging me), then a group of guys around my age or a little older. I'm not as bothered by adults unless they're particularly intimidating or it's for a job/in a professional setting.

Same, even though I'm 25! When I'm around a group of loud good-looking friends I tend to shrink away and feel intimidated. Mature older people I feel fine with. And generally, if I'm attracted to them then I would be nervous of them.

a group of 2+ people in my age group, whether I know them or not, make me go into robot mode. Head steady, eyes front!

Then, as they walk by I feel like they are scrutinizing me. God forbid they actually look my way I go in the nearest door pretending that's where I was heading.

At work or mature looking adults are no problem though.

generally anyone who can tell I'm nervous make me more nervous. Also young people because they seem to be more judgemental and percieve whether youre cool or not

Both, my anxiety is equal opportunity.

Both. If I'd have to choose one I'd say males are worse, because I'm not familiar with the "bro" culture which makes me extra insecure around guys.

What about animals? Hehe, for me it doesn't really matter. A mean person doesn't really matter on gender or race.

I am exactly the same! Both, but females trigger it a little more.

Both, but typically only people around my age. (Or a really attractive lady, but that's probably true for nearly every guy)

Probably girls but I get more nervous around pretty much anyone my own age regardless of their gender, I think of this quote literally every time I see a group of young people walking in my direction lol -

For me it's both, but only if they are the same age or younger than me. I feel totally fine around people who are older, because I feel that they won't be judging me as part of their peer group, I guess.

I get particularly nervous and intimidated walking past young guys because I expect them to say something about me, or even attack me. It's from bad school experiences.

I do get very nervous around girls too, at first. I worry that if I talk to them, or do anything but completely ignore them, that they'll take it as a sign that I'm interested in them. Which makes no sense! And I feel that way, regardless of whether I like them or not. It's probably because I expect them not to want me to be interested in them, that I worry they'll think I am. I worry that girls will think that all guys who talk to them, are only talking to them for that reason.

Neither gender tends to override the other when it comes to triggering my anxiety EXCEPT online when a guy smalltalks with me, and I instantly assume he must be trying to flirt, and I hate flirting. I want to be nice and funny to a guy who's nice and funny to me but I don't want to lead him into thinking I'm flirting back. So I'm never sure how to respond since I always feel like I'm leading a guy on. For the record, guys do NOT flirt with me IRL, which is why it's even more awkward online, as I know these guys would not be flirting with me (if they even are!) if we were to meet in reality.

For me, girls used to send my anxiety through the roof, but now, both are the same, which is better than before.

I dislike large groups tho
