Default ugh!

Today I finally decided to tell my mom about SAD and avoidant personality disorder, because I want to see a doctor. Well she didn't believe me. She told me I'm just too lazy to go out and make friends and she just laughs at me.
What am I suppose to do with that? I want help!
I cant even go get a job, because of this crap.

Don't worry. My mom didn't take me seriously either when I told her. She kind of laughed and told me to laugh it off and go out with my friends and have some fun. Make an appointment to see your doctor and start with that.

Most parents don't seem to understand the nature of SA and how serious it affects people. She just doesn't understand how big of a problem it is.

Its hard to understand something if you don't suffer from it yourself. My boyfriend tries but sometimes loses pantience with me. Hes even less understanding about my friend who suffers from the same thing. He,s even takes the mick out of her which upsets me.

Thanks for the replies.
I wish she did understand. I'm kinda afraid to make the call to see the doctor myself, but I guess I'll have to force myself to do it.
