I used to text a lot more than I do now when I was over-the-road trucking, but now it has no purpose being married.

I've never pretended to text anyone, but i've constantly got my phone with me hoping someone will decide to text or call me - but they never do

I only get texts if I text first. People will reply to me, and seem friendly enough in what they say, but they'll never text first. It just seems that if I didn't bother with anyone else, they wouldn't bother with me. It would be nice to know that someone out there is thinking of me, and has taken the time to contact me, but they never do

Yes, I am guilty of this as well. I will fake text to avoid having a conversation with someone. Plus, it makes me look like I have friends who actually text me.

I've sent maybe 5 text messages in my entire life. 4 of them were to tell random people to stop texting me because I was not the intended recipient of their message. Apparently, somebody pretty popular must have had my number before I got it because I used to get a lot of people asking for some girl.

But to answer the threads question...I haven't had to pretend because I finished school before the whole text messaging thing really took off. I personally can't fathom how people can sit there literally type a sentence letter by letter.

I used to do it back in high school when I was in awkward social situations, or trying to avoid someone. Now I just endure it.

You mean you literally text random people? Now there's an interesting and fun idea. Make up a completely random phone number and text a message to it. Might try that tomorrow.

I use to do that until I befriended bunch of gossip girls so I will have someone to talk too lol,

Heh, there's an amusing "fake texting" part in the recent movie Two Lovers with Joaquin Phoenix. I don't think I've ever texted someone in my life. Nothing I have to say is ever important enough to deal with the frustration of typing words on a friggin' numeric pad.
