Default Overthinking

It's something I do. Lets say I want to talk to a person tomorrow about the Chemistry homework who I don't know. I'll be thinking about it all night, how I'm going to ask, where I'm going to ask, who will be around me when I ask, etc. I pretty much create a pretty complicated plan based off of nothing. Then one little thing changes like they were sitting on the window side of the seat instead of the isle side on the bus and it's like a horror movie to me and I end up just forgetting about it. I was given some super great advice about "don't think about it" a while ago but my problem is, I can't stop thinking about stuff like that. How do you not think about things?

I usually think of something else to take my mind off of the current dilemma.

I overthink everything and it sucks! The logical thing to say is "don't think about it", but I know that is much easier said than done. I really can't help that much as when I'm in the situation, I often just give up. Occasionally I'll just go for it and sometimes it even works out. But sometimes I also feel embarrassed for even trying. But it's really the only way sometimes. I just wanted to let you know that I understand how you feel.
