Today a girl had to give a presentation and I saw her hands shaking really badly. The weird thing is, knowing that women feel nervous too makes me feel a lot less nervous. Before I thought only men did and that women would think I was weird or something for being nervous. heh. turns out all along I was worried over nothing. And she wasn't ugly, she was actually skinny & attractive. |

Dude, what on earth made you think that girls don't have that same sort of anxiety problem? Wouldn't the large number of female posters on this site convince you otherwise? But if it makes you feel better, well uh, good for you.-a girl who gets extremely nervous talking in front of crowds (you can probably hear my knees shaking from the other end of the room when I have to do stuff like that) |

Well, because until men are like 40 there are actually more men than women (more males are born each year but we have a higher mortality rate). That means unless a man is more impressive than other men he is either going to be single or date a 90 year old right?
Plus, it seems like men are always trying to impress women, so I guess it never occured to me that a woman could get nervous since all the guys want them to like them... For example at bars I've had lots of women say "I'm busy" "Not interested" before I even say a word to them and I've seen it happen to lots of other guys too. Do guys really say stuff like "not interested" if a woman asks them for directions? Maybe they are nervous about what other women are thinking though? |

I'm more towards the stereotype (maybe not true) that women would be more nervous and prone to anxiety disorders as they/we can be more emotional and men tend to put up a front of being more confident especially at work.
Just shows..... I do think talking in public is separate to socialising in public as some people can cope with one but not the other. People with SA will probably struggle with both though. Those women could be a) being rude or b) feel threatened c) have partners d) want quiet e) don't like being approached in bars or any number of reasons. |
