Default no porn and masturbation, anyone tried?

watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSF82AwSDiU

i'm on my 4th day. every time i get an urge to fap, I just think about how i'll feel post orgasm. that feeling of emptiness and sadness, meh. It really doesn't even feel that great, i'm just doing it out of habit and to relieve my urges.

i'm feeling pretty good right now.. don't even mind that pent up sexual feeling, because it feels kind of pleasurable. it feels like I have more energy to use for other things.

Maybe there's something to this? maybe this is the magic cure, the catalyst, to pushing myself for self improvement?

Every time I try to give it up, I end up giving in. Longest I've gone was a week and a half.

you should keep trying, and just think about how you feel post orgasm. What do you really get out of it, compared to what you'd get if you abstained?

I see these threads come up a lot i find it quite baffling. Masturbation is a perfectly natural and healthy thing for us humans to do, if you think masturbation is wrong you might as well think sex is wrong. What possible benefits do you expect to get from abstaining?
Do you think it'll make you less anxious more happy, why? The only justifiable reason i could understand someone wanting to abstain from it is if they're overdoing like 3-4 a day or something because its like an addiction to them and maybe a coping mechanism for life's problems.
Then cutting down to a more moderate amount would be beneficial but other than that i can't see what possible benefits you would get from completely abstaining. I guess i could understand if you went from say doing it everyday to just doing it once a week then that one 'session' would be more intense and enjoyable in the same way that when you are really hungry you enjoy a nice meal more.
But as for total abstination that just seems draconian and unnecessary.

I've tried attempting it, but I can't even last for a day without fapping.

Masturbation is fine, but pornography is damaging. It rewires the brain like hard drugs, gambling etc. Just go on model mayhem or similar. It is healthier.

Past like 11 days, there is no additional benefit to testosterone levels. The only benefit I could see is if you had seriously desensitized yourself to any nudity or opposite sex form, that no one in real life, no matter how hot, can give you any sort of sexual pleasure; basically an extinction of the dopamine response to a sexual stimulus. If it hasn't reached this point or anywhere near it, then I can't see how this abstinence from porn is going to do anything.

I guess the difference from sex and porn is, that you get more of a dopamine rush whenever you view a new sexual stimulus(as a guy), and seeing something new all the time is the only thing that will get you off, so that you could never really be with the same partner. Where as sex, you can't possibly expose yourself to that many completely new sexual stimuli in real life as you can with porn in the same time frame.

Everything in moderation.

well, the question is, why not? what do you have to lose from not masturbating?

i'm on my 4th day, and i feel way more motivated and my mood is better. The only thing is i sometimes get cravings. So it seems like the only benefit to masturbation is to curb my cravings, and then I lose all the benefits of not masturbating.

well what happens if you masturbate after 11 days? your testosterone will reset back to normal rather than staying at an elevated state, correct?

This is agaisnt PORN, not against masturbation.

Masturbation is perfectly fine and even recommended - it has health benefits.

The problem is that people usually masturbate while watching porn.
And porn is bad for you.

Pretty much. But that part is really no different from having sex, though sex may have some additional health benefits that masturbation does not.

well we're all here on this social anxiety board, and decreased anxiety is one of the reported benefits of not masturbating

I have gone 4 weeks without porn, no change whatsoever. What may work for one does not work for all.

Went 2 weeks without doing it when I was on holiday. Made it worse because I was hornier than ever and I was terrified that I will get an erection in public ._. and all I could think about was sex xD Haven't tried the no porn thing though.
