I did see a psychologist when I was 16 but couldn't keep it up. Also took meds but stopped taking them, didn't want to rely on them(big mistake imo). After high school I did basically nothing for a year, then worked for 7 months and quit. I feel as though I did nothing for so long that the anxiety did nothing but get worse and worse. It has never gotten this bad and I can't control it anymore. I basically haven't left the house to do anything by myself in about 6 months, I've always needed someone else there with me. I am going to see a psychologist on the 22nd but I really need help before then to try deal with it enough to attend this course. Would love to hear any tips and advice or similar stories. |

Maybe the week before the course, set a series of VERY small attainable goals.
Try going to a store or a Starbucks or some places by yourself. Browse a bookstore for an extended period of time. Try doing things in public places that, maybe, feel less threatening than the class. Try spending as much time in public spaces as you possibly can (as much as you can reasonably take) before going to class. Try public spaces that you aren't too invested in. In other words, go places with no need for small talk - no party settings. Just try to get out, without the real threat of intense socialization. Then, of course, when seeing doctor, asking him/her about medication to help with panic attacks would be a smart idea.

You have to realize that if you don't get over this **** you're life will be a living hell. You will never reach your ideal self and never truely be fufilled satisfied and happy or at least of that you could achieve. Having SA is a burden that you must overcome. People will lend a helping hand but the best things in life worth achieving falls on your shoulders.
If you dont take care of this you will be like a little kid for the rest of your life. I applaud you looking to get help in this area. It tells me and everyone else that you are ready to change or at least cognizant that YOU do need to change. I would start to do some activities. Get up drink some water and run every morning. You start off your day with a great start. Take ONE time to make a list of everything that you want and dream of. Make a list of your ideal self. What do you look like? What do you wear? What kind of job do you have? How do you act? What kind of gf/bf do you have? How much money are you making? What do you do for fun? Are you a socialite? What are your hobbies? What value do you contribute in society? After that work towards being your ideal self everyday. It can start with small goals. The best time to take action is NOW. |
