All I know is one of the guys mentioned wearing khakies or something to another, so I am guessing buisness casual. I just don't want to overdress or underdress. I was thinking slacks and a dress shirt. So please advice about the lunch, and dresing would be greatly appreaciated. |

I would go with what you suggested with the clothes. If you're not sure about wearing a tie, then have one ready that you can put on real quick just in case. I wouldn't worry about the lunch too much. Order what you want to eat and play it by ear.

Ring or email the venue and they can tell you what they deem appropriate. But yeah slacks and a button shirt are usually a good choice. Personally I wear high-quality jeans with my button shirts but that's just me.

i think business casual is always the safe thing. The chairman of the college won't be in fully relaxed clothes and since it's a get-together-lunch it's probably nothing super dressed up.
Personally I'd wear black dickies and a dress shirt. some people can pull off wearing jeans and a dress shirt and still look between casual and dressed up..i cant |

I think the jeans thing depends on the type of jeans. I never wear baggy jeans but especially not to something classy. Always well-fitted but I did manage to find a pair of black pinstripe workpants that are made out of material that is a little thicker than workpants but not as thick as jeans. So they basically look like workpants but feel way more comfortable.
