Talking Does getting tattoos lessen your anxiety?

When I'm getting a tattoo, I find that it keeps my mind off all the worries and kinda keeps me from excessive thoughts which plague me often and as much as they can hurt, I kinda enjoy that semi-peace...Never been a cutter or anything like that(and won't ever be), but I imagine in some way it's the same/similar kind of appeal. I get a bit frustrated when the artist wants to have ongoing conversations with me though and I can't think that well to reply to them I always wait til the needle is not going to reply, luckily they have to get more ink often! I've only gotten 3 and the last was about 2 years ago due to limited funds thanks to my SA, but I enjoy getting them and I love the art aspect of them...I think they can be very beautiful. I want a Phoenix from FFVIII next I think, but may have to settle for something smaller for the sake of funds....anyways, how about you guys?

I'm seventeen, so I can't get a tatoo yet. I think I would like to have a tattoo of The Fox and The Hound, it's such a beautiful and innocent film, I could always look at it when I feel down. It might be a little hard to put on my arm though, so I'm not sure :/

By the way, I didn't want that exact picture on my arm. I just wanted to give you an idea

I enjoy the pain! It's actually an enjoyable pain isn't it!

The first time i got tattoos i felt really conscious of people seeing them incase they would judge me as being some nasty piece of work. The worst thing was people who know me commenting that i was the last person they would think would get them done, and that i was not the type.....I mean this says to me that i must appear really boring to people.

I find my tats are a conversation starter to many people..Most of the time they don't show as they are on my upper arms, but when i wear a t shirt you see a bit of one peering under the sleeve. I purposely got them in areas i can hide.

Yes, especially if the tattoo ink is infused with slow release Xanax.

Really, I don't know as I have never had a tattoo. I would like to get one (a small one) at some point but the culture I come from is conservative so idk if it's going to happen.

I have one in between my shoulder blades. It's been so long since I've gotten it, and with it being on my back sometimes I forget I even have it. I'd love to get another one, but I'm usually too nervous to go get it done without someone going with me. When the artist was doing my first one he kept trying to make conversation but I had no idea what to say, so he prob thought I was kinda weird lol.

I have two on my upper right arm and one on my lower left arm...I kinda feel like if I didn't dress the way I do or have tats I'd get noticed way more. I think I'd feel uncomfortable. My "family" is the ones that judges me most for them and the funny thing is, some of the ones that were most outspoken against it have gotten tattoos since
I can't think when I'm getting a tattoo...I think I enjoy that most. The pain keeps me from thinking and my thoughts often keep me in pain no matter how much I try to control them. Even after the tattoo is done it still hurts a bit so it still helps some. They are pretty addictive to me as well, even though I haven't gotten one in years I want one terribly

I'm not a tattoo person. I enjoy looking at them and i think it looks nice on other people.
But i will not have one in me anytime soon. I see no reason to right now. Maybe when i marry my girlfriend or something I'll get one. We talked about the idea and she said she wouldn't mind. We'll see.
