re: Does anyone hold their breath when they talk?

I don't usually, but today I did when I was on the phone with this guy I was inquiring tattoos about. I talked for like 10 seconds straight, paused and caught my breath, another 10 seconds of straight talking, and then I realized what I was doing and stopped.

Like I said it's not something I usually do, but every now and again I'll catch myself doing it. lol

I don't hold my breath, I lose my breath if I talk for more than a few minutes at a time. It's ****ing embarrassing. I sound like I just ran 10 laps around an Olympic track.

I do hold my breath when talking to people. I am afraid that the other person whom i'm talking to can smell my breath. although i may not have bad breath but i just hold my breath. AND the weird thing is that other people hold their breath too when they talk to me. It's like a mirror, I tried it with many people and i noticed the same thing. this make them uncomfortable too.

This is really bothering me and don't know how to cure it. anyone?

No I don't think so but I close my eyes or look toward the side. If I do that it helps me articulate my thoughts.

I've never really thought about it till now, but yeah, I do hold my breath and tense up when talking to people I don't know too well. I can definitely tell that it's harder to get my words out when I'm in that state.

People, practice diaphragmatic breathing, if you haven't already. It helped me more than anything, aside from exercise and drugs.

Wow, old thread. I usually have to remind myself to breathe if I'm talking for awhile. It's not good if I'm nervous, because I'll start running out of breath like PG said and it just makes me more self-conscious and nervous.

I breathe shallowly most of the time. Abdominal breathing helps with the anxiety quite a bit.

Don't believe everything you think.
