It doesn't work on low sleep, just NO sleep.

Yes, my SA decreases as my amount of sleep decreases. Also, one of my roommates (who does not have SA) said he feels "drunk" after not sleeping well.

I'm the opposite. If I am over tired I can't do anything as well, including socializing. If I am sleep deprived for too long I start to hallucinate and feel like I'm on some kind of drug. I'm really sensitive to sleep deprivation.

I actually feel that way, especially after a "rough night." Whether it be very little or no sleep. I say anything I want the next day and am extra-energized. I really don't know why though!

I think it's because usually your brain is soo active having SA and thinking all these thoughts and then not sleeping makes your brain go into A autopilot not give A crap/haze. I've done it before too but I hate not getting sleep my body wants to lay down any chance it gets lol.

That might be true. It must be similar to how normal people feel everyday.

Strangely I do. I remember times when I've been up all night and the next day I've had more energy and felt more chatty than if I'd have slept for about 10 hours!

I started working overnights for this reason in like 2002. There was something great about the feeling of, "At 4:00 a.m., it doesn't matter what you say," and I was even more at ease knowing that others were too tired to analyze my words or even remember what I'd said. It was like being drunk on brain chemistry. The problem with being low on rest, other than the fact that operating that way makes my body feel lousy, is that I'm cognitively not up to par, which means I'll more than likely make a bad decision at some point. So I'd rather be a little anxious and well-rested on the average day. I'll save the anxiety-free overtiredness for vacations. |

Working overnights helps, too. Most graveyard shift folks just don't give a damn.

Same here, unfortunately. If I'm sleep-deprived, I'm just even more "out of it" socially than usual and find it extremely difficult to talk to anyone coherently, even friends and family.

I don't function good with any missed sleep. I get the "shakes" way easier. I panic about things way easier...

lol I didn't have much sleep last night and noticed the feeling of not caring as much (I cared but not enough to keep me from moving around in my seat in class or getting up to take a bathroom break). I made a post before I realized there was one here. Neat how people react differently with their anxiety on sleep patterns. I definitely feel anxious on a full night's sleep. A few hours... yeah, its like I'm still in dream world. Too bad its not good to lose sleep. Anxiety is so screwed up lol.
