Default Do you think making mistakes often constitutes being stupid?

i know i know everybody makes mistakes..

but I mean really often. you find it difficult to concentrate, difficult to understand the most mundane things... you're a stumbling fool

cause intelligent people don't make mistakes very very often right?

Mistakes are opportunities to learn and improve. Intelligent people are separated from the rest not by the quantity of mistakes, but by learning from their mistakes.

Oh definitely not! You're only "stupid" if you don't learn from your mistakes, especially after several times, and if you willingly choose not to... like living in denial, for example. Stupid equates with foolish in my book.

I've met plenty of brilliant people who haven't an ounce of common sense to their names and, consequently, make tons of mistakes. We all have our areas of "expertise" where we're less apt to make mistakes... plus, we can't control the imperfect world we live in.

Yes. At least that is what runs through my mind when I make mistakes. Hence, generally, I have learned not to try. Fewer mistakes are made that way, but I still often find a way to make them.

Yes I think it does...I cant even remember how many times I've thought I was stupid for making mistakes, because an intelligent person would learn from the mistakes of others by observation,

its as if in prehistoric times, a caveman saw another caveman stick his hand into a fire to find out what happens, he see's the other caveman scream in pain and after that, goes ahead and sticks his own hand in the fire himself :S

I'm pretty intelligent. I'm also very absent-minded and frequently have trouble concentrating. These are probably at least partly because I hardly sleep, although I've been absent-minded my entire life.

I'd say stupidity is more a matter of making poor judgments. Mistakes are something else, and smart people aren't much more immune to them than stupid people are.

I make mistakes all the time, Yet I try to look at them as a chance to learn.

Making mistakes does not make you stupid. Not learning from those mistakes is what makes you stupid.

Sometime I make mistakes because of anxiety, stress and frustration. Nobody is perfect and 6 billion mistakes are made every 10.min. And if I had to take an IQ test in front of a crowd, I would get 50 or something.

Default I find absent-minded is the fitting term

I feel like i'm constantly on stage and the performance of acting normal begins to ware on you. Its this crazy mental trip of walking the proverbial residential street past a row of terraced houses and having the sense that there are a million piercing eyeballs staring at you through the net veiled windows. Is it totally irrational to expect that the perceived observation alters ones behaviour?? Que si? Que no?

Not true but they are good at hiding it.

I know of a girl that gets lousy results (i'm first in class but I make too many mistakes in my life) but the teacher thought she is smart because she knows how to cover up and lie and pretend that she's good.

I don't really know. Sometimes I witness things that people do, and it makes me wonder if they really are stupid.

I disagree. Just the other day I was stumped by the question "What is the English Channel?". I was thinking of a "channel" like a TV channel. Of course when I remembered what it was, I wanted to beat my head against the wall. My parents will never let me live it down

People make mistakes, even really basic, stupid ones.

Everybody makes mistakes, its only human. But people react differently when they make mistakes. When I make a mistake I beat myself up over it for hours, even if it is something trivial.

At the time of making the mistake or realising I made a mistake I tell myself that I am stupid and worthless and that this could only happen to me and I get very angry with myself. But after a few hours has past I start to think more rationally and tell myself that everyone makes mistakes. But the strange thing about it is the next time I make a mistake the whole process starts all over again, as if I have learnt nothing from my previous mistake. The mind truly works in mysterious ways.

How do the rest of you react when you make a mistake?

I do the same thing and it dosn't help when someone agrees with you about it being stupid.

Everyone makes mistakes, some might even be stupid, but so what. Life will go on after mistakes. You will learn from mistakes, which in turn makes you a stronger person. I love this quote from the Rocky movie, maybe it'll help you.

Its not how hard you can hit, but how hard you can GET hit and keep moving forward, thats how winning is done. -Rocky Balboa
