Default Coping methods?

Has anyone tried anything besides medication to deal with your SA? Therapy is out for me--can't afford it (and don't know where to go). I've seen things online like workbooks that supposedly help you with methods to deal...has anyone tried anything like this, and does it help?

MoodGym is an online CBT program that can definitely at least get the ball moving.

The book:
Overcoming Social Anxiety and Shyness: A Self-Help Guide Using Cognitive Behavioral Techniques by Gillian Butler

I think it could potentially completely cure social anxiety but it requires that you put in a lot of work yourself. It teaches you the skill but then you have to go and do it which is really hard. But it's do-able.

Great. Thanks for the tips, I'll check out both of these!

You're welcome. You can also apparently change your life by changing your diet, but it's not very clear cut. I saw something on the news about it relating to depression, and that is a bit more well known. For example processed food and junk food is not good for depression, and fresh food and plenty of vegetables and stuff is very good for depression.

Basically if I ate like my mother raised me to eat, I would probably be a whole lot better off But it is also capable of helping people with anxiety too. Not sure if it would help social anxiety because they are two quite different things I think, but it may.

I googled it very briefly and there were thousands of results, but I just read this one which was interesting:
