I have read all types of conflicting reports on the net about how caffiene is toxic to those who are anxiety prone, caffiene induced anxiety disorders and so on... I never dealt with any other anxiety disorder then SA, but from my experince, caffiene gave me the drive and motivation to defeat my anxiety. I dont know what I would have done without it,just remembering the days where I would freak out while waiting for the bus is horror. It's still there though, but locked up in its most dorment controllable form. what do others think about caffiene?
I wouldn't think there is such a thing as a 'caffeine induced anxiety dissorder', but it can certainly stimulate in anxiety in those who are sensitive to it.
Each individiual is different and not everyone will encounter problems with caffeine, but I know myself when I have went through rough periods of general anxiety, caffiene has had a big impact. Some are more sensitive to it than others and you will naturally be more sensitive when in long periods of anxiety, but it's up to you to determine if it's detrimental to you or not.
Caffeine is usually a good thing for me. I think it might actually make my anxiety worse than it already is, but I also talk about 100x more after a few cups of coffee than just about any other time, and so appear less strange.
i have generally found that caffeine helps me focus and gives me energy. sometimes (when i have felt the need to drink a lot more than usual) i find it gets me jittery and brings out dormant anxieties but that is very rare. overall it's a pretty useful drink for me.
I'd say it's a good tonic but don't overdo it. I can definitely see how it could induce anxiety for some and yet help others beat it. I went from drinking it all night long and staying up all hours of the night last year to totally abstaining from it now. It generally only made me feel jittery.
My friend had one of those crazy, cold coffee drinks today before class and then he talked nonstop during the class, it was hilarious.
I don't think caffeine increases my anxiety; I also find that it increases my energy, drive, and motivation, also puts me in a better mood, as long as I don't have too much. Unfortunately I seem to be building up a tolerance to it so it doesn't work as well as it used to.
I love energy drinks, not so much because they give me energy, but because they temporarily give me an artifical high and make me happy. They're a horribly addictive drug. I'm sure they make me more tired in the long run too. They give me stomach aches and sore throats and I'm sure theyr'e screwing up my liver yet I still drink them. I don't know about anxiety, makes me a little jittery but not really a big deal.
caffeine makes me jittery, shaky, and that in turn makes me worried about my shaky hands. lol. but i am a coke and pepsi addict all the way. I've read in a lot of places that a glass or so a day won't hurt you.
some days drinking coffee seems fine then other days like this past saturday i went to starbucks and man before i knew it i was consumed with anxiety blaming caffiene once again and never to drink it, so not sure here either.
I've been drinking about 3-4 cups of tea a day for years, so I've build up some sort of resistance to the stuff. I am addicted to it, I know that. But definitely not dependent. It's not like I *need* my tea in the morning. I'm just used to it. It's so damn tasty! I am trying to stop though. Maybe once I get down to just a cup a day or less I'll start seeing the effects again.
Caffine and soda make me go haywire and definitely help induce panic attacks and increase my heartrate, and make me jittery and more anxiety-prone. I avoid them now.
