I have told people and most of the time once i have told some one they no longer talk to me and when they do that i tend to think do i really want to be friends with some one who is small minded ??
I've only ever told my best friend about it. We've pretty much known each other for practically our entire lives, so that's pretty much a given. She took it pretty well I guess. We generally accept that each of us is messed up in our own ways. Other than a counselor, nobody else. Especially not my parents. I had tried to talk to them, hoping things would end up differently, but let's just say they still only discuss my anxiety in terms of a character flaw.
Good luck to you though! Please do try to talk to someone, when you find a person you are comfortable with, even if it may not work out. If it does though, it's always worth it to have someone who's got your back.
