Social Anxiety Support

Hey guys, I've been lurking on this board for a few weeks now, and I figured now would be a good time to join officially.

Admittedly, this board has seemingly exacerbated my aversion to all things social, as it's saddened me to realize there are a lot of others who suffer from the same condition I do; but, in the end, I feel confident that it is for the best! It's always good to have a support network.

Like many of you, I'm a college student, but I cannot say "typical," as "typical" college students don't stay at home all weekend doing nothing of consequence--save for perhaps watching my favorite team play college football on Saturdays, if that can even be considered something productive. My life seems to be at an impasse right now, and I'm getting worse, I fear. The only thing that compels me to wake up in the morning and attend class is my 3.9 GPA; it's something I'm proud of, but at times it feels hollow due to the fact that I hardly partake in any of the social amenities my school has to offer. I also love history and philosophy (my major and minor), so that keeps me going too, I suppose.

Anyways, I apologize for the dissertation!

P.S. My username: "Kaiser" is German for "Emperor." Neptune is the Roman god of the Oceans, or Poseidon in the Hellenistic (Greek) tradition.

hey, totally get you. its weird because reading up on everyones stories it seems we are all so very similar. its horrible feeling alone at times, specially when its a part of you thats causing it. now i know theres hope for all of us, and theres no need to be ashamed.

but yeah nice to meet you , i see your new to this forum like me
