Default Hello :)

Hey guys, i just joined and was wondering if anyone could give any advice on how to talk to your friends and family about your social anxiety? Just the thought of talking to someone about it really freaks me out but Im sick of feeling so bottled up about my anxiety. ive never talked to anyone about it so maybe its time? i dont know anyone else with this problem so i feel like anyone i talk to wont really understand anyways and i'll look like a crazy person...
because ive never told anyone (not even my doctors) ive never been subscribed medication or gone through therapy so i basically have no idea how to deal with my anxiety and now that i'm getting older i can really see how negatively its affecting me! i need help!!

Welcome. I feel the same way. I don't know how, or even if I should bring it up but at the same time I want to be able to concretely know what is wrong with me so I have some chance at changing it. Good luck.

When I found out about SA, I just wanted to tell everyone who'd care lol. I thought it'd make things easier, letting people know that there's a reason behind my being mega-awkward. To put it simply, I was wrong. I've only told two people so far, the first didn't believe me and the other one forgot all about it the next day. I guess it depends on who you're talking with. There really are a bunch of people who think social anxiety's all in the head, but at the same time I believe there are people who'd gladly help you through it without thinking you've gone mental. I hope you find the right people to tell it to.

Oh, and welcome to the forums!
