Hey,

My name is Tim, you can call me Tim, Timmy, Timothy or whatever ya like!

I'm 17 and from Brisbane, Australia and i recently stumbled upon this great forum and decided to join. I have been experiencing social anxiety since about 2006. I also have OCD but to a lesser degree than SA. I recently acknowledged that I have a problem and probably have social anxiety disorder. Initially I was doubtful, but the more I read about symptoms, the more I realised that this is definitely what I experience. I plucked up some courage and told my parents, and I've now got an appointment with a psychiatrist soon. I'm looking forward to getting better and will be sharing my experiences with treatment and whatever else on the forum. It seems like a pretty sweet site!

really? a psychiatrist? I could never do that.....I guess I hold too much of a stigma against it,but its really great to see that you have the courage,God Bless you.I wish you the best!

Ashcash - thanks alot. Initially I was against going to a psychiatrist, mostly out of fear of telling my parents and actually having to talk about the problem. But the more I researched and thought about it, the more attractive it seemed. So I changed my mind and sought treatment. Taking the first step wasn't easy but hopefully my treatment goes well! And maybe you will change your mind about seeing a psychiatrist one day too.

I am new member too. it took me a while to realize I had this anxiety, i guess i sort of kept putting it off as something normal. this is the second forum I am trying for, the other ones i tried werent very active so ill give this one a try! if you wanna talk or just leave messages once and a while thats cool too. well peace & have a good one!
