Social Anxiety Support

Hello everyone, I came across this great site from a simple google search as I was trying to find out more about social anxiety. Reading through people's posts, I often found myself thinking "hey, this sounds like me!" I'm glad I found a place where I can really relate to people.

Basically I have had general anxiety since childhood. I'd have small "panic attacks" at age 6-8 if and when my mother was late to pick me up from school, thinking she'd died or forgot about me or something ridiculous. I'd get nauseous and shaky around adults I didn't know so well, fearing what they thought of me. I was a lot more worried than the average kid ever was.
But over the past several years it has evolved into almost entirely social anxiety. After getting out of a very serious relationship 10 months ago with my fiancee, my social anxiety has amped up tremendously. It's to the point where I am too anxious to sometimes attend my college courses and focus on the work. Same with going out on the weekends with my best friends or current love interest. Too anxious. People are concerned I'm pushing them away when in reality I am just far too anxiety ridden to do the things I want to do. It's very frustrating, but once again I am glad to have found a forum where I feel not so alone

Wasn't that a big relief when you saw similiar posts from other people expressing what you yourself go through?! I know it was for me.
