Default Who played a big part in the development of your SAD

I dont know if this topic has come up in this forum before or not, but after realizing what I do have SAD and researched SAD I found that SAD can start as early as childhood and go on for years without knowing it. And when I think back to my childhood and connect the dots, I a huge connection to my SAD diagnosis.. does anyone else have a story to share?

Mine:
My my parents.. "Your lazy, your stupid, you'll never amount to anything etc etc.. talk about closet children, you could put my picture next to the description in the dictionary!!! we could not date and after school activities where slim to none.. and of course the "children should be seen and not heard" mentality! Not to mention spankings, belt whipping, soap in mouth, kick in the butt so hard my spine hurt etc. So yea, I can see where my SAD started.

I'm going to guess that for most it's the parents as they pratically control your life up until 15 years old, and after that the repercussions of their parenting will still be in you.

Everyone I knew growing up contributed to all my mental problems. I have a couple of learning disabilities that no one knew about until years after I was out of school. Because of these disabilities it was hard for me to learn to do anything so I failed at just about everything I tried. Because no one knew that I had learning disabilities they just thought I was lazy and wasn't trying hard enough. I got yelled at alot and punished for bad grades and for not listening when someone was trying to teach me something. People where so angry with me for being lazy and not listening that they started treating me like crap. I was ignored and left out of most things my family did together. When I withdrew into myself and just sat alone somewhere all the time not talking to anyone it seemed no one even noticed. I think they where happy they didn't have to deal with me anymore so they just left me alone.

I don't think it was anyone but myself. Later down the line, some bad friends made it worse, but they didn't cause it.
