I listen to bands and performers within the genres of: Power electronics, industrial, noise, power noise, ambient, some electro-clash, shoegaze, experiemental hip hop, old school rap, and that's about it. I don't know, angry music and random sounds just keep me going.

I listen to music from pretty much any genre. There are a few exceptions though. I just have a hard time listening to a lot of the overproduced pop and rap music that is on the market. Lately mainstream country has been sounding like standard pop music with some lap steel and a southern accent thrown in. I also tend to shy away from modern Christian music, most of the stuff I have heard seems to put too much focus on religion and not enough on the actual music(there are some exceptions like Sufjan Stevens, Will Oldham and Low)... I'm also an Atheist.

Strangely, I just got into Marilyn Manson. I don't ever listen to his kind of music...something about him clicks in me when I listen to his songs.

I've never heard of power electronics or power noise. What is that?
For 17 you listen to some pretty interesting stuff. I like "shoegaze" and the like. A lot of the time I just listen to 60's and instrumental stuff. I like Frank Zappa and then I like stuff he probably would have laughed about. Recently I have been listening to Guided By Voices, Death In Vegas, Archers of Loaf, and The Ventures. |

Metal, rock, and alternative. I'll listen to some rap and pop music if it's on the radio.

Vocal trance. Progressive Trance. Electronica. House. Dance. Techno.
All the DJs, Armin, Tiesto, Above & Beyond, Markus Schulz, Smith & Pledger (ANYONE signed under AnjunaBeats), Luminary, Karen Overton, (only her one hit,) The Thrillseekers, Chicane, Kyau & Albert, Kaskade, Delerium, Filo & Peri, OceanLab, ATB, Interstate. I so wish I had friends into the same music as me, so I could actually go to a rave or something or see Armin Van Buuren/Tiesto, but then again I hate loud places. I also listen to classical...and oldies (thanks to my mom) soft rock....and hip-hop/R&B/rap from a decade ago, NONE of that bullsh*t they play these days...No country/no metal/no hard-core/no emo music lol for me either. |

My favorite genres are indie pop and post-punk. I could sit here and list like thirty genres I like, but that would take forever.

I listen to pretty much anything decent.
It's weird how many people here seem to be into trance, especially on a forum such as this. If you like that kind of music, why don't you find others with similar tastes and meet up with them and take some pills and enjoy that music the way it was meant to be enjoyed? I'm sure even the producers who make trance records don't seriously expect anyone to soberly enjoy them.

Tsk tsk tsk. I am totally against any recreational drug, even marijuana.
In the words of Kaskade: "Later the whole rave thing came up and it became less about the music and more about the drugs. It did change my perception a bit, just because it saddened me and I withdrew a little bit" plus I have addictions elsewhere

That's stupid when trance music is basically made for ecstacy use. There's nothing wrong with it, and I've had great times going to clubs and events playing trance while taking pills. Maybe you should try it.

Pretty much anything apart from metal, heavy, emo, screamo and stuff like that. I've been listening to quite a bit of electronica recently.
I used to be into emo, metal and hard rock when I was younger. I once went to see Funeral for a Friend. |

Alternative punk rock, Blink-182, Killers, Placebo. I'm also partial to more emo alt rock Coldplay, Death Cab, The Shins. I've got eclectic tastes, and my library represents: trance, techno, metal, classic rock (for sure), pop (some), hip-hop, rap and reggae. I'd like to have more country, blues and jazz. I don't really have any oldies, but I'm not into that, except for The Beatles.
