Default Mental disability simulation

SO I have to do a presentation for uni on a disability (group project, yea I'm NOT going to be the one doing most of the talking lol). I chose mental & behavioral health, figured I knew a lot about it already cos of my SAD. Anyway, we're supposed to do some sort of simulation activity, you know, an activity where the class participates and gains some sort of understanding of how it is to live with such a disorder or whatever. I'm still not sure what the simulation should be for but I'm thinking maybe anxiety or ODD, those are the disorders we'll probably be concentrating on within our presentation. Any ideas? Am I making sense?

I don't get it: you are to simulate a mental disability? Ridiculous. It sounds more like making fun of the people who have the disorder than helping others understand. Hopefully, I didn't understand what you mean by "simulation".

Do you actually have to do the activity, or just plan it?

I designed an activity where the participants listen to recordings of voices (to simulate psychosis) while trying to pay attention to the workshop. I wish I could say I came up with the idea, but I blatantly stole it from a workshop I went to.

The class is for those who intend to work with disabled children. It's helpful to understand what they're going through. Why is that offensive?

Yes, we have to do the activity. That sounds cool, but I'm thinking more of an activity dealing with either oppositional defiant disorder or one of the anxiety disorders, since those are more prevalent.

Well, that's easy then. Every time someone says anything to you tell them to **** off. And repeat for the desired length of the event.

Sorry, I obviously DID get it wrong. Thought you have to roleplay sb. with a disorder
