Do you think you might have induced it, or do you want to? It's a very uncomfortable thing to have. I have quite strong stomach cramps at times. There are three kinds.... with constipation, with diarrhea, and combination. My stomach has been much better ever since I've been on anxiety medication. The anxiety really makes it worse, I used to call it "worry pains".
^ Anxiety definitely does it. Not realizing your lactose intolerant or knowing what your body can take in certain instances. People are built differently.
I remember reading that doctors don't know the true cause of most IBS cases. Not diet or anything like that. So maybe in most of those cases it is willed occurrence because of anxieties. If you think about biology and the animal kingdom, lots of animals hide their poo but others use it to scare off things. So... Maybe it's a biological echo of an older time. Like, we're fearful, we then poop and it can scare/ward off threats? Poo for thought.

I don't want to discourage you from trying alternative methods of getting rid of anxiety, however this does not sound like a good idea. It would be a much better idea (and less bodily harm) to go about it differently but using the same core idea. Such as if you started to wear ridicilous outfits every day (or maybe something a little simpler and just wear a dumb looking hat). You'd basically be doing the same (forcing yourself out of your comfort zone) while not actually causing harm to yourself or having people smell/hear your farts all the time.
well, becoming a vegetarian might have your desired effect, because most of those diets revolve around fibrous foods and complex carbs like beans which most people are not used to digesting.
but there are also things like eating too quickly, drinking a lot of soda, and um...not sure if i want to aid you in this effort, Pearl :/ i wish you the best in getting past your phobia, though.
@versikk I think I should just wear men's clothing, and maybe a full fake mustache and maybe a beard to go with it, on the subject of clothing.
Since I think that my social phobia seems to stem from worrying about about appearing ladylike.
Doctors have told me I have IBS. I wouldn't ever want to deliberately cause myself my worst symptoms. Last year I had a colonoscopy and also a camera inserted into my stomach. No specific cause was found.
At least with me I can't always fart when I'm having very painful stomach cramps. Eventually I start having to run to the restroom a bunch of times, but before that I can be constipated for a long time with tons of pain. I've had pain so bad that I've felt like puking and on at least one occasion actually puked. Also I pour sweat when the pain is bad enough.
Also IBS doesn't seem to make me lose control of my farts. The cramps can be bad enough that I want to fart if possible, but I don't lose control. I had these problems when I used to work and never farted around coworkers. Unless I'm abnormal in being able to hold it in, there is always the option of holding a fart and dealing with the pain or going away from people to fart. So not sure if making yourself gassy would accomplish much
I had it 10 years or so ago. Initially i had gastroenteritis but i assumed itd go away without having to cut out certain foods or alcohol. I was also under a lot of stress at the time. It took months to get rid of. I havent had it since although i do occasionally get bad digestion for a week or two but i am very cautious about what i eat.
