Default I want to move to Hawaii

I went to the Big Island near Kona and loved it. The climate, the land...everything. I know it's little more than a dream for me but if I could even move there for a few years, I would do it in a heartbeat.

I even know where I would want to live. Right by Kona Village on Ali'i drive.

Does anyone here have any experience with Hawaii, including the other islands? Is it as hard to find a job as I have heard?

I don't know that I could convince my husband to move there but he loved it there too.

Me too. Went on vacation there a long time ago and I loved it. I might be going again this summer. But really, any tropical place would do it for me.

I left my heart in Honolulu...
My experience of it? I spent a week in on the island of Oahu many years ago = best moment of my life.

I believe there is something truly magical about those islands. The fact that in a world full of turmoil, deceit and suffering you have the Hawaiian islands is all the evidence I need to know that there is a God.

...If I could just escape back to Waikiki beach, watching the yachts sail by as the sun sets over Diamond Head...
I hope you achieve your dream!!

My second choice would be Santa Barbara. I hate where I live and feel trapped here. It is literally a culture vacuum here.

I've heard mixed opinions about Hawaii like it's beautiful but expensive. You also have the bad areas neighborhood wise as well, but I guess that's true of any place. I know that Trcy guy is from there so maybe he can give you a more informed opinion of the pros and cons.

Take me with you...? I'll clean the house and teach you Spanish. I'll learn how to cook, too, if you want a warm meal when you get home.

I've heard that living in Hawaii is terrible. A lot of their goods are imported and extremely expensive. Plus the land is pricey and the homes people live in aren't all that great.

My girlfriend was born and raised in HI. She said it's very hard to find a job. We went to Honolulu and stayed at Waikiki this summer for a week and I loved it. I woludn't want to move there because it's so expensive and the traffic is horrible.

Yeah I have heard that about Oahu and the Honolulu area. That was the nice thing about the Big Island....it wasn't too overrun with people. I just loved the Kona Village, I felt so at home there.

I would worry about finding a job. And the price of things seems to be more expensive overall.

It's a shame though because it's like paradise, at least the Big Island is.

At the very least, I will get out of this horrible town I live in now for a place that offers much more, hopefully coastal. I feel the most at home on the left coast.

The South of France is also nice

I didn't understand the fuss people made about it until I went there - Nice food, language, coastal towns and cities, and the heat - the heat hugs you every time you walk out the door, no need for a jacket...

Just another option I thought I'd throw in there. Maybe I should move.

Maui is lovely. Prices are high though.
