Default Homemade deicing solution that works?

I read online that mixing 3 parts vinegar/1 part water or 2 parts rubbing alcohol/1 part water would make a deicing solution. I used the alcohol and put the solution into a spray bottle. Now I don't know what I am doing wrong but this solution hardly seems worth the effort. If I spray it on a layer of ice it slowly eats it away but I would rather just push the whole thing off using an ice scrapper (much faster). If I prespray my car's windshield before snow, it does not do a thing.

So what's a good deicing solution and how to best use it?

That's basically home made washer fluid. It's a lot less effort to buy a gallon for a couple of bucks. You still end up having to scrape.
It is ironic, how often one comes across an atheist with a "holier than thou" attitude.

I bought a spray deicer for a few dollars. It ends up refreezing if you don't scrape fast enough.
