Default "Friends" on Facebook, Myspace, MSN etc

Who are the people that compose of your Facebook, MSN etc "friends"? How many of them do you actually know in real life, spoken to or met online?

I would say, about 3/4 of my Facebook "friends", I know them in real life from either secondary school, primary school or are friend's friends. The rest are people I have met online and a number I have never even spoken to them online before (e.g people added from SAS, people who have randomly added me for whatever reason etc)

Of all the people I know from real life, the vast majority of them (if not all) I have spoken to at least once.

I know about 5 in real life. The rest are bands or tv personalities.

Facebook - 0 friends lol
MSN: a bunch of people I play online games with, no one I know in person.
AIM: just a couple of people that I've played online with, again no one I know in person.

Most are real life friends or acquaintances. Some are high school people who never talk to me, and I suspect they only added me so they could look at my pictures (of which I have none- suckers). Then I have a couple of stores I compulsively buy from as friends, lol.

I don't use Facebook or MySpace at all. I have 130 friends on Steam, but only about 20-30 that I actually talk to and play games with regularly, plus a single friend from that same group on MSN after she kept bugging me to install it

I have never met any of these people in real life, although I'm hoping to get the chance to meet at least a few of them at some point in the future.

I rarely add people I haven't met on facebook and I have about 340 on there....the majority of those are people from high and middle school and church and a few family members....I barely talk to any of those people. I add pretty much everyone who requests on myspace cus I put my art up on there and display it. There are like 5000 maybe on there...of which I know maybe 60? and a few talk to me about my art, plus I sometimes get horny idiots sending me stupid s**t *barf*...I probably wouldn't have a myspace if it wasn't for my art On yahoomessenger I have like 8 of which I know maybe 4 in person and AIM I have about 9, and met about 3 of them....I don't talk to a lot of people on any of these. On here I have the SA in common and am excited about not being alone in it so I actually prefer talking on here than the other sites.

In my area/school people will just add anyone they barely recognize. I actually talk to about 10% of my Facebook "Friends"

I have 22 "friends" on facebook... My sister and two cousins, my best friend, 5 or 6 childhood friends that I haven't seen or spoken to in years, 4 or 5 friends/acquaintances from high school, 2 people from SAS, and the rest are people I went to high school with but never talked to.

63 facebook friends:
5 relatives
1 real life friend
1 former TA
1 former professor
1 friend of my sister
11 people from message boards, one of whom I have met
2 people I met on an IRC channel eight years ago, one of whom is a close friend I've never met
3 people met in college, none of whom I am likely to ever speak to again (there used to be more when facebook was college-only, but I deleted some and the others deleted me)
1 person I bought a t-shirt from on-line

The rest are people I met in elementary, middle, or high school

I have like 22 -- I'd say most are coworkers/brotheres friends (so they spend their whole day at my house anyways haha) and a few others like from here/other message boards.

I don't believe in the adding every single person you've known since kindergarten -- but I do see a ton of people with 600+ "friends"

Myspace: unknown number because I rarely check it, but last time I remember it was over 100. I know exactly 5 of those people.
AIM: 7 people. I know all of them, but there are 2 I don't talk to very often.
MSN: 3 people. I know all of them and talk to them at least once a week.
Yahoo: 5 people. I know 3 of them. The rest I don't know too well and barely talk to them.

I only have about 48 'friends' on facebook, which are just people from high school and primary school - most of which didn't like me very much either. Only one person actually talks to me, which is my best friend.

I have around 125 friends on Facebook, IIRC. I would say most of them are people either from college or high school; but, out of that 125, I would estimate that I am truly friends with 5 to 10. By "Friends," I mean people I have made social connections with, which does not at all mean I do social things with them.

Do any of you ever look at your friends' profiles wishing that you were them or at least had the life they do? For awhile I could not go on facebook because it made me too sad and depressed. Sadly, Facebook is a ubiquitous reminder of my de-facto non-existence at college and in life in general.

Some are proper friends, others are 'celebs', or people I know of from uni or school.

And Yes, most of the time when I log on.
