Default Buoyancy Ques.

Well, I already got this question wrong, but I have a test tomorrow, and I want to make sure I get any more questions correct in the future. So here is the question:

Rank them from the most buoyant to the smallest. Ties are possible.

Thanks for any help!

(float)bf~a, dc~e(sink)? Anything with a volume/weight ratio less than 100 (1/.01) will sink.

I err disagree with max4225

The most buoyant to the least is:
B,F,A,DE,C (D and E are tied)

Working:

Just to make sure my eyesight isn't failing me, I'm reading the values as:
A=1.4N, 150ml
B=2.0N, 300ml
C=3.0N, 230ml
D=3.5N, 300ml
E=2.0N, 150ml
F=2.0N, 230ml

So 1ml=0.01N
So since all volume are listed in ml, multiply all the volumes by 0.01 to get the force of buoyancy in Newtons.

So for A, there is 1.4N of weight acting downwards and 150ml x 0.01=1.5N of buoyancy force acting upward. End result is (1.5-1.4)=0.1N acting upward (it'll float).

Doing this for the rest gives:
A=0.1N up (float),
B=1.0N up (float),
C=0.7N down (sink),
D=0.5N down (sink),
E=0.5N down (sink),
F=0.3N up (float)

So the most buoyant to the least is:
B,F,A,DE,C (D and E are tied)

Oh geez, I'm so stupid. That's what I forgot to do. I had the 1.5, but I forgot to minus it with the weight. Thanks guys for you help!

Descriptive physics. Oh, I have plenty more, but I try not to post them if I don't have to, heh. Here is another one but dealing with air. Same answer concept as the first question.
