Default What is the most bizarre film you have ever seen?

'Pink Flamingoes' from the one and only, John Waters.

I found it to be both disturbing and hilarious. Warning: its not for the faint of heart!

I would like to hear others opinions of weird and unusual movies that they have seen.

Short films included?

I like Pink Flamingos, but I enjoy Female Trouble more. I like the idea of the horrendously ugly and sinister woman being revered for her beauty.

The weirdest film is Un Chien Andalou. It is truly an amazing film by Luis Bunuel and Salvador Dali. It's a short silent film, but it has a lot of captivating imagery. Luis Bunuel said that he almost vomited as he sliced the eye open. Watching the liquid drain out still makes me wince.

Even Dwarfs Started Small is "weird" to most people, but I find it to be an interesting story about rebellion and chaos.

'Female Trouble' is my favorite John Waters movie.

I actually got to know Edith Massey, who starred in several of his films when she still lived here in Baltimore.

Just a few off the top of my head.
Fantasia
Dumbo
The Neverending Story
I know they aren't exactly 'shock worthy' but i still think they are pretty bizzare movies, as with most disney films.

Some weird postmodernist French film from the 60's. I don't remember the title. I saw it on IFC years and years ago. It was apparently about a band of student radicals or something. The main thing I remember was a scene where the actors slaughtered a live pig on camera. I have no idea what the context was, or if there really was even a context.

Well, now I finally know where "slicing up eyeballs" comes from... though I think I would've preferred not to have known! When I first read that post I assumed it was an eyeball from a dead person or something, that had already been gouged out of the socket. But I just did a bit of a small search, and from what I read(before I could bear no more!), a woman sat and voluntarily had her eyeball slashed??? Maybe I'm totally misunderstanding but I'm too squeamish to look again, so can someone clarify without going into too much detail?![/quote:a5b30]
No.. no one sat and let his/her eye be sliced open. It was actually a dead cow.

I've never heard the Pixies song about the film. I didn't know it existed.

we had to watch and write about this film as part of the final exam in an art history class i took. yeah, it was pretty weird. finding coherent, intelligent things to say about it on the spot was pretty hard.

i didn't know that pixies song was about this. the lyrics are kind of odd, makes sense i guess.

I know there is others that I'm to lazy to think of right now .. but the most recent that comes to mind is "stay" I saw it in the theatre .. I left the theatre completely STUMPED ... its weird because in a way I felt like I really enjoyed it and it was a good movie despite the fact that it made absolutely no sense to me ... everytime I thought I made sense of things it would take a flop and I was confused all over again!!! .. maybe I was missing something I don't know .. but I think it was pretty bizarre

Hmmm, I'd say Fear & Loathing In Las Vegas ranks as pretty bizarre. Although if you've read any of Hunter Thompson's books it makes some kind of sense. I'd say Pi or pretty much anything else directed by Darren Aronofsky. Spike Jonze normally gives you something different (Being John Malkovich & Adaptation).

I don't thing anything tops Un Chien Andalou though. That's a pretty good call
