Default What are your top ten favorite anime?

I am an anime addict. From the day I watched my first anime I was hooked. How could I have survived so long in life with the inferior cartoons that the United States had to offer? (There are some exceptions.)
So, lets talk some anime!

My top ten favorite anime:

10. .hack//SIGN (drama)
9. DNAngel (romantic comedy)
8. Ruin Explorers (fantasy)
7. Tenchi Universe (sci fi comedy)
6. Get Backers (almost all genres 0_o but very emo)
5. Hellsing (vampires, rawr!)
4. Fruits Basket (emo comedy)
3. Ranma 1/2 (romantic comedy)
2. Princess Mononoke (mythical drama)

and the very best anime ever is....

1. Full Metal Alchemist (it has it all!)

It was very difficult getting it down to just ten and deciding what order they go in (after Full Metal and Princess Mononoke). I have yet to watch Naruto so please don't hang me.

1.Trigun
2.Cowboy Bebop
3.Full metal alchemist

Id like more but I really only like the style of the first 2.I love Wolfwoods death scene. So sad.

Id like Inuyasha but they say the words "inuyasha" "kagome" "sacred jewel shard" way too much, they even made a commercial.

A couple people have named off Neon Genesis Evangeleon. I heard that they either redid the ending or they're going to. I have avoided watching it because my brother told me that the ending is depressing.

Indeed.

I don't generally watch anime either, but I've seen Spirted Away about a billion times. No-Face is supercool.
I really liked Spirited Away as well.

You guys need to see Princess Mononoke, it's by the same people. It is a bit violent and gorey though, it's rated PG-13.

I have yet to see Howl's Moving Castle.

hehe, I'm not sure how many seasons I watched but the ones I did watch were good. Digimon, Digital Monsters, Digimon are the Champions!

Full Metal Alchemist is really good but i haven't watched it all yet >_<

Hmm... i'm too indecisive to decide on the order but, top10:

Full Metal Alchemist
Full Metal Panic (which has 3 seasons, 1st is comedy/action/romance/mecha, the second is kinda a spin-off comedy thing and the third (that just finished airing in japan) is a proper sequel).
Cowboy Bebop (um.. action.. and stuff. bebop rocks )
.hack//SiGN
One Piece (>Naruto! comedy)
Trigun (action/comedy)
Last Exile (action/sci-fi, really good animation too)
Neon Genesis Evangelion (mecha/crazyness)
Serial Experiments Lain (supposedly drama/sci-fi.. but this anime is really.. weird)
Elfen Lied (action/horror)
- The first ep probably makes this seem really, um, "cheap"? Within the first few minutes you have some naked girl slaughtering tons of people with psychic powers or something.. but, this anime is really, really good, if you can take the violence + gore (and don't mind the nakedness O.o). I don't think it's for everyone though..

Full Metal Panic is probably my favourite series overall, for now (and it has nothing to do with FMA, despite the similar name)

I'll probably change my mind on that list though lol. At the moment i've started watching Witch Hunter Robin & Escaflowne... and i'm gonna watch Princess Mononoke soon (i seem to be the only one who hasn't watched Miyazaki's films... though i did recently watch Howl ... dubbed )

I want to see Kenshin / Hellsing / Get Backers too..

The ending makes very little sense. They did a movie (The End of Evangelion) to replace the last two eps of the series, because you probably need a degree in psychology to understand them O.o

The movie though, is kinda depressing... you should still watch Eva though.

I'm not sure...I was depressed for two days after watching the movie Pearl Harbor...lol

I want to see Serial Experiments Lain, eventhough everybody I know IRL says it's too weird.

I agree that Last Exile was good. I started watching Full Metal Panic but got distracted by Full Metal Alchemist I do plan on finishing it someday. I'm currently watching RahXephon, so far I like it. I could possibly love it, depending on where it goes.

Then never ever watch Now and then, here and there, unless you want to be traumatised lol. That anime is good too though ^

I'm half way through watching RahXephon too . It's vaguely similar to Evangelion... i need to finish watching it one day. I have a really bad habit of getting half way through series and then watching other stuff and never finishing them >_<

I will heed your warning.

In the last couple of episodes I've seen of RahXephon I did get the feeling that it's like Evangelion, I just hope it doesn't turn out the same. >_<

Sammy did a PS2 game based on Berserk(there's an older one for Sega Dreamcast too) It's starts right at the end of the dvd serie. I heard it's a pretty sweet game. Too bad it's not gonna make it in america

If you want, there's an online petition to sign so Sammy can make it available for america....If enough people sign, it might work and we can get to play it

I just watched Princess Mononoke, that was amazing. Can we make this a top 11 thread instead?

I still need to watch Spirited Away.. i think not watching that must be worse than not seeing Naruto, lol.

Oh, and i really liked Wolf's Rain too, though the only other person i know (well,knew..) who's seen it said it was boring -.-

The last forum I posted on (not an SA forum) had a thread about anime and all they ever talked about was Naruto. I guess it's not as popular as they make it out to be. 0_o

I saw a few of Wolf's Rain but it was in the middle of the series so I had no idea what was going on. (Love the artistry.) I would have to see it from the beginning before I make a conclusion.

1. Fullmetal Alchemist (everyone's favorite, isn't it? )
2. Ranma (manga only)
3. DB/DBZ (manga only)
4. Slayers/Saber Marionette J (anime only)
5. Kenshin (manga only; the anime made my life miserable )
6. Bleach/Naruto (yea, both roughly follow the same structure and whatnot... not to say they're not enjoyable, but too overrated imo )
7. Chrono Crusade
8. <insert a bunch of shoujo manga here>
9. <insert childhood anime/manga that bring back good memories here>
10. <insert about any manga here>
