http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWLw7nozO_U Sorry don't know how to embed them. Im a rediculous SRV fan, and anytime I feel like I can barely make it any further, the blues reminds me that theres beauty and strength in pain. |

Mississippi Fred McDowell, Honeyboy Edwards, Son House, Robert Johnson, Big Bill Broonzy, Muddy Waters, etc.
I can't really get into stuff like SRV, Buddy Guy, and Robert Cray. It doesn't really sound like the blues to me.

Ya, its more blues infused rock I guess. I'm a fan of more straight ahead blues as well.

I love blues. Especially Blind Willie McTell, Robert Johnson, Victoria Spivey, Memphis Minnie... Some John Martyn is very bluesy. I'm sure there are others I can't think of now. I'd like to get into it more. My grandad loved the blues and left his entire collection to my dad, so I have a ready-made catalogue to make my way through.

I love Robert Johnson's "Me and The Devil Blues." As for Chicago blues guys, I think I like Howlin' Wolf more than Muddy Waters. Obviously no one's going to beat Sonny Boy at blues harp, so he gets added to the list as well. :]
For more jazzy or aggressive blues styles, I enjoy Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, Cream, Hendrix (obviously), and Mike Bloomfield. |

I think Little Walter beats out Sonny Boy on harp, but they were both very different styles of harp players. As for Muddy and Wolf, that's a toss up. I know they didn't like each other.

I think Muddy had more hits and was the better artist, but I just like Howlin' Wolfs style more. Spoonful is a great tune.

I love the blues. Brilliant music, and it's made me friends and kicks and all kinds of great things. My favorite artists are Lightnin' Hopkins, Muddy Waters and Magic Sam, among many others who are just great at what they do.
Anyone here play blues in a band? |

I love a bit of blues sometimes. Am really into Robert Johnson and Blind Willie McTell, and have been listening to more stuff by Howlin' Wolf/Muddy Waters/Ledbelly etc recently. I just find the music and the lives of the people behind the music fascinating, especially people like Robert Johnson who has so much legend surrounding him. I also love some modern bands like the White Stripes and the Black Keys, who play music heavily influenced by blues music.
