Default Any Blues fans here?

Just wondering if there's any blues fans here. I'm a blues musician and love all the classic Chicago blues cats -- Muddy Waters, Little Walter, Howlin' Wolf, Sonny Boy Williamson etc.

I'm a fan of blues music, love it!

Muddy Waters, Etta James, B.B. king, all great artists.

I like pre-War blues--e.g. Robert Johnson, Bessie Smith, Blind Willie McTell, Blind Willie Johnson, Charley Patton, etc. But most of the blues I listen to is in the form of jazz (where it's everywhere) and in some old country music (Hank Williams and Bob Wills especially).

No doubt about that. I'm guessing if you're a blues fan, you're probably from the Memphis area of TN?

Muddy Waters is one of my musical icons. I was stoked when they came out with the Cadillac Records movie.

Oh yes Cadillac Records, I loved that movie. Muddy Waters is a true blues legend.

I wish I lived in Memphis that would be a great city to live in. I actually live in the Johnson City area, which is pretty much on the opposite end of the state.

i don't think i've heard enough of a variety of blues.
musicians i listen to: son house, leadbelly, robert johnson, abner jay, howlin' wolf, blind willie mctell, and probably others. i have a couple compilation albums of field recordings from the 1930s which are quite good. i also downloaded a compilation album recently of female pre-war blues musicians that i like.

I'm a blues guitarist, which sucks because I'm really tired of the blues.

Pre-war blues is great. Pretty much the most raw, emotional stuff you'll ever get your hands on IMO. Nobody can ever reproduce Robert Johnson's voice. He sounded like he was singing and crying at the same time.

That's all good stuff there. You should get some of the post-war musicians players like Little Walter, Big Walter, Jimmy Rodgers, and of course Muddy. Then you also have some really good ones in in the next era like Otis Rush, Junior Wells, Buddy Guy etc.

I hear ya. I'm a blues harmonica player, and sometimes I get in a rut playing it after awhile. It's s great genre, but you have to listen to and play other stuff as well or you'll get burned out over time. I try to throw some variety in because the nature of blues music can get somewhat monotonous, especially for musicians.

Unfortunately yes that is very true, lol. All the people around here just love her. I find this part of Tennessee to be rather boring though.

Of course artists like Eric Clapton and B.B. King but I also like my blues a little on the rockin' side like Shannon Curfman and Susan Tedeschi.
