I can't vote yet. I am still deciding.

I am also a Cincinnati Reds fan, by the way. You know, Pete Rose, who is also of controversy.
He apparently made bookie deals at a restaurant just three miles from me in an adjoining town. That building has since been torn down and is now a Speedway gas station.

Hell no. You should have seen the dirty crap he pulled during the 04 ALCS, esp in game 6 when he tried to slap the ball out of the pitcher's glove who was about to tag him out and then tried to act like the guy had dropped it. It's not a stretch at all to believe A-Roid was on the juice.

I say "yes" (and I'm a Red Sox fan), with a "but":

I'd put A-Rod in a group with Bonds and Clemens--guys who are/were Hall of Fame caliber players with or without steroids. I think they belong in the Hall eventually. However, I think an appropriate penalty for them is not to see the Hall in their lifetimes. Posthumous induction would be appropriate. No one wants to see any of these guys give an induction speech.

In another category are McGwire, Sosa, and Palmeiro--guys who I don't think were Hall of Fame caliber players without the juice. McGwire, for example: take away his '98 and '99 seasons alone and all of a sudden his career HR total drops under 450. (In fact, Mac only had 10 seasons to begin with in which he played at least 130 games, and with a number of those seasons undoubtedly tainted, you're all of a sudden left with a very thin resume.)

it's such a touchy subject, really. i mean guys like Bonds, ARod and probably Clemens too would be in the Hall without the Roids. meanwhile, guys like McGwire, Sosa, Palmeiro, etc wouldn't be shoo-ins without them. now so far, we've seen McGwire get snubbed and Palmeiro will be on the ballot i'd guess next year. i'd think they both get snubbed. with Bonds and Clemens, we'll have to wait a few years, but personally, i wouldn't vote for them...they may have had the numbers prior to juicing, but they cheated. this sadly, is their punishment, so at this point, i've got to say the same for A-Rod. there needs to be a penalty for cheating, and if it's the Hall of Fame, so be it.

haaha I remember Pedro and Zimmer going at it. That was the 03 ALCS- the year they lost the ALCS to the Yankees in extra innings of game 7. The fight with Varitek was a year after that I think.

No. I'm a lifelong Yankee fan and I've never liked him.

I agree with everything here except the posthumous penalty.

If any of the steroid users get in, I think Pete should definitely get in as well.

I have no doubt Bonds, ARod, and Clemens would be in the Hall if they had never used steroids. It is a real shame that they tarnished the game and their careers. It certainly isn't all their fault. Baseball turned a blind eye to it for many years.

I'm not so sure McGwire, Palmeiro, Canseco, and the like would have put up Hall of Fame numbers without roids. Sosa definitely would not have. He was average at best before he started blasting homeruns.
