Default Sharks are hot, baby!!!

Though with that last game, they seemed to struggle a bit.

They're always hot until playoffs.

They worry me. Are they going to fizzle out again?

They've already proven they can dominate in the regular season, let's see if they actually show up when it really counts.

As long as they won't be like Ottawa in the previous season who seemed unstoppable in the beginning and barely made playoffs in the end.

Sharks are definitely doing well so far, they have a strong defensive system along with a powerhouse structure on offense a.k.a Joe Thornton, Jonathan Cheechoo, etc, etc, and a stellar goalie in Nabokov, they are one of teams to beat in the Western Conference that is for sure, but watch out for the Wings, and possibly the Canucks

Cheechoo? He's only played in 19 games and has 8 points (12th in team scoring) to show in those games. He had one good season and has been grossly overrated since.

Setoguchi and Marleau are really stepping up this season. Dan Boyle and Rob Blake have both chipped in with 20+ points from the back end so far as well (Vlasic with 17 and Ehrhoff with 16 are no stay at home d-men either).

But just like everybody else, I wonder if they can get it done in the playoffs.

And that one fluke season was a product of being centered by Joe Thornton. I wish the Sabres had a true top line center delivering those tape-to-tape passes to Thomas Vanek. He's already leading the league in goals and is on pace for over 60 being centered by Jochen Hecht! I don't think 70+ goals from him would be out of the question with an elite playmaker like Big Joe or Marc Savard.

Sharks vs Bruins for the Stanley Cup. Would love to see it. I'm a Bruins fan but I still have a soft spot for Big Joe. And I believe the Sharks are better and would likely win.

I hope not. Too many non-traditional markets have won the cup in recent years.

The Sharks are going to lose to the Red Wings in the conference final and then it will be a rematch of last year's cup.

I wouldn't be surprised, the Pens look like they're in for another deep playoff run even if it's just Crosby and Malkin who take them there.

And just what is wrong with that? Why should the NHL and hockey be a league/sport that doesn't grow? The time of the Original Six has long gone.

I would love to see San Jose win a Cup. Their fan support is right up there with the "traditional markets" in the NHL. The only NHL cities who look to be failing right now are Phoenix, Atlanta, Nashville and Miami.

I guess I'd just rather see the cup go to a city with a more hockey-crazed fanbase where it would be more appreciated, rather than one who's population cares more about surfboarding.

I kinda see his point. When Anaheim won the cup, half the people in that city went, "We have a hockey team?"
And it seems that so far Southern NHL Expansion only succeeded in Tampa, Dallas, and San Jose.
I still think they should fold Coyotes and Panthers, or relocate them to more appropriate locations.

And you don't think San Jose would appreciate a Stanley Cup? They have one of the top dedicated fanbases in the NHL. The Bay Area isn't exactly Southern California.

Even down in Anaheim it's not as bad as people think. No, they don't have lineups around the block for autographs like some teams do, but I went to games in both LA and Anaheim last year and both games were sold out with a pretty good atmosphere in the arenas. The biggest problem Anaheim has is that because of the freeway traffic in the area, not many fans can get there in time for a 7:00pm start. We left our LA hotel at 5:00pm and we barely made it for puckdrop. It did look really bad when they made the Final because the NHL starts every SCF game at 8:00pm Eastern (5:00pm Pacific), but that was the league's fault, not the Ducks' fault.
