Why would you be happy to see Torre lose? He was the best manager your Yankees ever had and letting him go is the reason the Yankees missed the playoffs this year.

i liked torre when he was here, but he decided to move on and is now being praised like a god for winning 83 games in the worst division in sports (which also only has 3 other teams in it). there are a ton of reasons why the yanks missed the playoffs but to put it all on torre is not correct. losing our ace in May and starting C for the past 8 years to season ending injuries didn't help. not to mention completely horrible years from guys who were supposed to break out(Cano hitting 40 points under his career average and Melky's atrocious play resulting in a demotion to AAA). Oh, and it's no coincidence the Yankees first non-playoff year in 14 years aligned with Derek Jeter's worst year as a pro.

It was a horrible season, no denying that, but everyone seems to emphasize Torre's impact on the team like he was the sole purpose they ever succeeded.

A friend of mine is a huge Phillies fan so I am rooting for them. They must beat the Rays. The words "World Champion Tampa Bay Rays" better never ever be uttered. So... yeah Phillies better win.

Okay, you really need to get your facts straight man. The Yankees offered Torre a pretty insulting contract. Not only did they cut his pay, but they offered him incentives for winning playoff rounds, which is pretty insulting. I don't blame him at all for declining it, especially since after all he had done for you guys, he still got Steinbrenner breathing down his neck during the playoffs, and keeping him on a short leash. The Dodgers actually won 84 games this regular season, and there are 5 teams in the NL West. And Torre is given a lot of credit, because he managed the team well, and brought them to the NLCS, especially considering the lackluster team they had.

And you give so many excuses for the Yankees troubles. Every team faces injuries, it is part of the game. But what other team would be able to just trade for Ivan Rodriguez right after Posada is out for the season? Cano did not have as bad as season as his statistics indicate, as he only had a really bad April, but throughout the rest of the season he kept a .300+ batting average. And you are going to have players with off years, on any team. But then what about Johnny Damon's surprisingly good 2008 campaign? No one expected that. Or Giambi coming through with a pretty solid year. In the end it seems to balance itself out.

I mean, look at the Red Sox. They got very poor production from their ace pitcher because of injuries. They lost their best hitter at the trade deadline, and their 3 hitter (Ortiz) was not himself all season long due to recovering from a surgery. Not to mention Jason Varitek having his "worst season as a pro", and Mike Lowell facing injury issues. But you know what? They were able to come within one game of the World Series despite all of that.

Bottom line, a team with a payroll like the Yankees should not be making excuses about their bad seasons, because they have an advantage over every team in the league. They just have a really bad front office, and don't know how to build a team that consistently produces talent. Okay, they DID know how to do that, but now they are just a mess. I hope this trend continues, and they miss the playoffs yet again next year.

Oh, and GO PHILLIES!! I hate the Rays! For two reasons: they beat the Red Sox, and 90% of their fans jumped on the bandwagon this past month. There are at least many hungry, deserving Phillies fans out there.
