Default Gruden replacing Kornheiser on MNF

Most definitely a step up!

BRISTOL, Conn. (AP)—Former Tampa Bay coach Jon Gruden is replacing Tony Kornheiser on ESPN’s Monday Night Football broadcast team. Kornheiser cited a fear of flying in his decision to leave after three years.

The network said Monday that Gruden will be in the booth with Mike Tirico and Ron Jaworski when the show starts its 40th season this fall.
It seems like the dark years of MNF are starting to come to an end. I HATE three man broadcasting crews, but at least they are getting a football guy in there and not some hack columnist and wannabe comedian.

The reason is kind of interesting, though. Madden never flew and he did perfectly well as a broadcaster for a long time. Maybe it is because Kornheiser has other commitments during the week? Who knows?
