I don't follow much baseball (esp since 2004) but how much money the Yankees spent in payroll since their last Word Series win (2000)? 1 billion?, 2 billion?

Safe too say at least 1 billion then... I really don't see how the expos could have been competitive (even with a new stadium) if they stayed in Montréal...

it would take a salary cap to give the Expos a chance.

Salary cap in baseball? Good luck convincing the Yankees, Red Sox, Mets, etc. And if I recall correctly, there is a few teams that has a very small payroll. Not sure they would want a salary floor... (edit: as the Marlins with 37 mil payroll, lol Loria and his little doggie are still cheap)

David Samson. hahaha Opening Day 2002 was the best thing ever, Expos vs Marlins right after Loria had sold them off to MLB. Me and my sister made the best signs ever and I screamed so much my vocal chords ached for about 2 weeks. Good times.
I hated Brochu, he was even worse than Loria. Blue Monday happened before I was even born but it still breaks my heart to see Dawson going back to the wall like he had a chance. 1994 was the worst.

They win too much. It's time for another team to win.

thats bull**** thinking. the team itself deserved to win, they beat a great team in the Phillies, its just the buying a championship and the unfair advantage that gets me. the players have every right to feel like they've accomplished something.

baseball is a business, business of winning, you have to spend money to make money. hire sub-par employees and your business isn't profitable.

I'm all for the cap because I think parity in sports leagues makes things interesting, but you all realize that even with the salary cap the Yankees would still hold a huge advantage, right? So its not like it would be holding them back.
