I am not a Yankees fan by any means, but it was a touching tribute to a park that has seen so much, including the World Trade Center tragedy. The final hit was made by Jason Giambi, the final win by Andy Pettitte, the final home run by Jose Molina. *Just for trivia's sake if it ever comes up.

I could care less about Yankee Stadium. Nothing against NY or Yanks fans, but I'm not a Yanks fan, and I don't buy into the hype.

I'm not a Yankees fan but I loved watching Yogi Berra and Whitey Ford in the booth with Morgan and Miller last night. Yogi is the best. He's kind of a soft-spoken guy but I crack up every time I hear him.

I wonder how much I would have to pay the demolition company in charge to let me have the first swing of the wrecking ball.

It was a great tribute to the stadium and the Yankee franchise. Although I cannot stand hank steinbrennar (forgive the spelling), I love the yankee organization and history (even though the dodgers are my team). Great way to say goodbye to the stadium. I can't believe JOSE MOLINA was the last one to hit one out though... lol

I am not a Yankees fan either, but considering the long history and the many players to have played in that park from the last 80+ years, it was kind of a sad moment.

Regardless, it's just a building, and the Yankees are choosing to leave. It's not like the building was condemned and they were pushed out. The whole pomp and circumstance seemed a bit much -- especially with it being pushed down the throats of baseball fans in the rest of the country. It would have been fine if not for how much it was over-emphasized, with ESPN acting as if the White House was being razed rather than a place where a bunch of athletes threw a ball around and hit it with a stick.
The building will be gone, but the history will still be there, so Yanks fans have nothing to worry about. Brian |
