Default best sport for social anxiety

Hey all, I'm kinda new here and I just want to share with you all the greatest sport for people of our kind - disc golf. I've been playing almost my whole life and now I'm getting pretty serious about it. It's basically golf with a frisbee (actually its a disc that is capable of being thrown really far). It's great for me because I go alone all the time. It's very relaxing and releases a lot of stress being out there in a park where nobody's around and you can just enjoy nature and go for a good walk. The people who play are also the most laid back accepting people you'll ever meet. Granted, a lot of hippies play but I like hippies. Anyways if youre looking for something to do outside just buy a disc online and go out and play for free! You can even go into tournaments and play for prizes. Although I'm scared to win cause you have to go up in front of everyone for a little while. Anyways I highly recommend it!

I started playing disc golf this summer and you're right, it is the best sport! I've never played alone, though. I think it's much more fun to play with friends.

hi mike =]

I think running alone in a nice, calm, cool trail is the best.

(bring a cell phone though, in case of emergencies!)

The best sport imo to do alone is to go for a nature hike with a close friend.... but bring a knapsack with you with something that makes a sound like a bell and don't forget the sunscreen or bug repellent

Sounds fun... I want to try it. I used to play ultimate regularly so I'm used to throwing frisbees.

if you want to start the easiest thing to do is buy a disc off of ebay...search for disc golf discs or something of the sort and pick one...sometimes you can buy a whole pack of used ones for really cheap. After it comes in the mail go here http://www.pdga.com/course/index.php to find a course in your area. Then go out and see what its like! Also http://www.discgolftv.com/ has a lot of pro videos so you can check that site out first.

I actually enjoy baseball. If you hit well enough, nobody cares if you're quiet. It's like extra motivation for me to excel. I suppose that's true for any sport though.

It's strange. In my experience basketball is an extroverted sport. The ones who are the most talkative get the most PT, get to score more because they are more assertive, etc...

I never got the ball. All I did was rebound the ball and pass it to the perky ball hogging point guard. When people played and rotate the ball around, I am like Ben Wallace and just stand around and wait to go back to play D. LOL I am always the only one hustling trying to stop the fastbreak.

I loved basketball but I hated playing it most of the time.

Interesting point. I've been playing ball for 10 yrs now. When I used to play for teams what you said did happen. I wasn't vocal and didn't move around a lot to break free. It's interesting b/c most people always considered my shot good, one of the best on the team. But I got lost in my quietness. Now that I just play intramurally and just pick-up games, it's better. Maybe it's also b/c I've come a long way w/my SA. I fall into the shadows from time to time but I try to be vocal whenever possible. When I have an "on" game, my confidence soars.
