Default Why is there so little activity on this forum?

It's a little disheartening. I know I could go on the other forums, and I have.- But it's kind of strange that almost everyone is 15 to 25. I mean if I was in that age range I would'nt be thrilled about talking to a 42 year old!

I heard it's lonely sound
It wasn't roaring,it was weeping. -

Crickets seems to go in waves, sometimes there are good number of posts and then nothing. Not really sure why. There are a good handful of oldsters like myself around here.

I agree with Penny. This forum wakes up for a week or two, then goes dormant for a while. For us long time members, a lot of issues have been discussed, but kits nice when someone restarts an old thread and it springs to life again.

As for the 15-25 yr olds, I'm sure I seem like an eccentric uncle.

I see your point- I was so excited about this site! At first I would check in constantly. I've never joined a site - The first couple of replies I was just thrilled!! Which is slightly creepy and sad now that I think about it. Oh well, who cares? There are worse things than creepy and sad!!!!

I'm too embarrassed to type on this forum, though I do read it. I usually just give short answers on the other forums.

Because typing aggravates our arthritic fingers!

I think being a cricket is a state of mind. Sometimes not an especially fit mind, but a state of mind none the less

They say people don't mature beyond the age of 25, so this is basically as old as anyone gets, mentally speaking. I read posts from some of the younger folks who sound more mature than I think I am myself so I guess it is only relative as far as age goes. As far as the rickety stuff, when I start to complain there, then I think it may be time to check out. I think I'll stay young and forget about my age, while I still can. BTW, I'm 48, Yikes!! No you didn't, oh yes you did!!

I am at a point where nothing else surprises me any more about SA. I think you slow down posting when you get to a point where you feel like you have written just about anything to do with SA. What else more can you say or add really unless it's something new or something no one else has written about. I think the older you get the more familiar the same old tunes start to get. I think the younger ones - teens to early twenties are new in trying to cope with it, I guess that's why they are more active than us crickets.

Well, to be honest I'm personally more "annoyed" when mainly very young people comment on specific topics of "older" people. Those discussions very often lose their serious character and have a rather low information content for me.

I don't know about the others but at my age I increasingly long for anexchange of ideas and thoughts of a certain seriousness and maturity. And less for words of empathy, agreement or run-of-the-mill-advice.

Every once in a while a thread turns up inquiring about who else is thirty-somethings on this forum. But never ever anything emerges from that.

Hi Angela,

I was thinking the same thing. Not that many posts. I'm 42 as well.

You can PM me if you want.

Take care,

Marie

I would have to whole-heartedly agree with this statement. Though I haven't posted a lot, I check the site every so often when I am feeling quite overwhelmed and alone with my SA. I have had the thought that "this site has really gone downhill," though I know that I am just getting a snapshot of just a few days. It is just harder to relate to someone so much younger than you; who hasn't acquired the same level of education or experience-though I certainly feel their pain. I have often been irritated by responses where I know the person doesn't know what the heck they are talking about. Which is interesting, because my SA makes me afraid to post unless I feel a very high level of competence in the subject matter.

I wish I could post more often, but I am in law school (I was in serious denial, alright) trying like hell to make it through.
