I think your right, if what you mean is that the concept of normal and abnormal are unhelpful. Its a cliche, but people come in all shapes and sizes, ranges of intelligence, and with varying aptitudes. I see no value in marginalizing anyone.
For me, its easier to think in terms of effective and ineffective. I'm not much happier calling myself ineffective as opposed to abnormal, but I think I save myself some pain in doing so. Its also easier to envision becoming effective, whereas becoming normal seems a farther reach once you've labeled yourself otherwise.

It would be really interesting if someone could explain exactly what is normal.
Being from the outback in Australia I can assure you not one of us "was normal" as I learnt when I went to Brisbane to work. I think this normal business is a load of rot quite frankly. |

We are normal, we just have a different set of problems, even people that we see as being "Normal" have issues, just not the same ones;-)

I hate to be the lone dissenter, but most people can relate to other people on some level. Even if they're a little shy (most people are, I think), they still have friends, go out, date, etc. We are extremely shy and measured against most people, we're abnormal.

So "Normal" people always have friends? They always like being around other people?
