Default How old do you appear to others?

I was just wasting some of what's left of my dwindling years by playing on this Web site:

http://howoldareyou.net/

How good are you at judging the age of others? I find that I am not very good, especially when viewing photos. Makeup, lighting and photo editing probably throw off my success rate.

If you are brave enough to tell us,
  1. How old are you?
  2. How old do you think you appear to others?
  3. How old do you feel physically?
  4. How old do you feel emotionally?

I won't reveal my exact age, but I will admit to being more than two decades older than 25, which I estimate to be the median age of SAS members. I think I appear to others to be a few years younger than my actual age.

Physically, I feel not much different than I did at 25, but each time I buy new clothes, I am reminded that my body is broader and a bit pudgier than it was at 25. A bit of gray is beginning to appear in my hair. It takes a bit more effort to climb a steep hill, and I no longer take steps two at a time, but I can still accomplish without much difficulty any physical task I could when I was 25. However, I now throw out my back once or twice a year.

Emotionally, I am much stronger than I was at 25 or 35, which were very difficult times in my life. However, I do not feel as emotionally mature as I imagine others my age to be. My psychological problems have severely limited my life experiences, so I cannot have matured as much as those who have settled into a career and enjoyed a family life. I live alone and avoid social interaction as much as possible, but I can now deal with social interaction, when necessary, without as much difficulty.

I am 40.

People always take me for younger, which is a good thing I guess. But its a only a matter of time before that changes. I seem to usually be pegged for about 30 or even 28. Not really sure why....good genetics I guess. Whenever I tell people I have a 21 nearly 22 year old son, they gasp and ask "HOW OLD ARE YOU????" I am told constantly that I do not look old enough to have a kid that old.

Physically I feel about the same....somewhat. I do notice that I HAVE to have a certain amount of sleep. The 4 hours a night phase of my life is definitely over. I injured my knee on the treadmill a few years ago and it took forever to heal....and I still think its weak to this very day.

Emotionally I feel way ahead of where I was in my 20s and even 30s. Much smarter. I like myself far more now than I ever have in my life.

-I'm 35, turning 36 in April. I feel ancient compared to the "kids" on SAS who were born when I was in high school.

-I think most people could accurately guess that I'm in my mid-30s. Thinning hair really gives it away.

-Physically I'm starting to feel old. Now I get a back ache from sitting in a car too long driving. This didn't happen years ago. I don't need reading glasses yet, but I've noticed that I no longer have the flawless close vision I used to. At one time I could nearly read the micro-printing they use to make checks impossible to fake with a photocopy.

-Emotionally, well, I kind of have mixed feelings there. It's hard to feel all that mature when I've never lived on my own and never even owned a car in my name and have never had any serious relationship yet. But at the same time I feel old as I look around SAS seeing "kids" who are young & naive, while I've been hardened into a bitter old man by the sands of time and the things I've seen over the years that effectively removed any silly notion that the world is a nice place or that life is fair.

People at work are shocked when I tell them I'm 47. Some people I've told more than once. I used to be flattered and still am, but now I think it's funny.

Karl's post reminded of my not so perfect vision. I too have the small print issue, though I am still getting by without the use of glasses, although I have been prescribed some and need them, I think I look like a dork in glasses.

Haha, probably a cute dork. I took my prescription glasses back and use cheaters. My eyes are turrabull.

I am 31 years old.

I have no idea how old others think I am. In the span of two days, I got carded for buying (good) beer by a cashier who told me "You look awfully young," and had a strange woman clearly in her forties waiting with me to buy a drink at a bar look at me and say, "I think we're the two oldest people in this bar."

Physically, I'm healthier now than I was even a year ago. I'm more active and I eat better. I can tell when I look in a mirror though, that my face is starting to look older. I've got those lines that run from your nose to your mouth. I hate those stupid things. My vision hasn't changed in ten years, but I've been practically blind since I was nine anyway, so it's not like that matters.

Mentally and emotionally, I feel about 150 years old. I've been through some stuff in these 31 years. A friend of mine and I took an Internet quiz on how old we really were. ("What's your true age?" or something stupid sounding like that.) She got 6 years old. I got 76 years old.

Have a nice day,
Kelly

I'm 20. Most people think I'm about 25. Apparently I just "sound older" when I talk.

Physically I feel about double my age. I'm exhausted, and feel way more run down and pessimistic than any 20 year old should.

Emotionally I think I feel about my age.

Im 26. People always think im younger than i am. I've returned to a community college and my teachers and class mates think im out of high school. I always get carded. I also i requested a resent doctors report of mine and on the write up the doctor put "appears younger than stated age".

Today at a car dealership I was looking for a car and was there with my mother. The sales man only speaks to my mother and eventually turns to me and says"so what did you do to earn your car. Must have gotten into a really good college right." I went along with the guy and told him he was right and pretended my past school history was my current history. I find it amusing now haha.

Physcially i feel really young. Im in great health probably due to my diet so my body does feel very young.
Emotionally I also feel younger then my age because i haven't experienced much and even though im getting out more and becoming more independent things still feel very new to me.

  1. How old are you? I am 23.
  2. How old do you think you appear to others? I look like an encephalitic infant with giganticism.
  3. How old do you feel physically? I don't know. I've slowly begun noticing things going wrong with my body. I have a wrinkle (not the end of the world, but the first true unequivocal signal of the rapid aging process ravaging my once fresh face). I also have chronic back pain (I always have, but it's gotten a bit more nagging). I don't have a definitive answer... older than my age, I suppose.
  4. How old do you feel emotionally? Eight.

I'm 35. I'd say I look about 30.

Physically, I feel fine. I don't feel any different from when I was 25. I'm sure if I tried to play a contact sport now, I'd quickly say otherwise. But sitting around doing nothing all day now feels the same as sitting around doing nothing 10 or 15 years ago.

Emotionally, I feel around 28. I suppose I'm a little immature. I've had former employers say I'm very mature for my age but I think they just mistake being quiet for maturity.

  1. How old are you? 24 years old
  2. How old do you think you appear to others? People tell me I look anywhere from 17-19 years old at the most
  3. How old do you feel physically? I try my best to keep in shape, but I still have that senior in high school-sophomore in college look, so probably 18-19 years old...
  4. How old do you feel emotionally? Umm to be honest.... like 12-18 years old I'm still irresponsible at times, and am a little spoiled by my parents, I like a lot of cartoons and kid stuff, but at the same time I like watching sports, working on cars or other grownup related hobbies.

I am 38. I think I look older, but other people think I am younger. The guy that lives across the street thought my dad was my grandfather. He was surprised when I told him he was my father. I also told him my last grandfather died 23 years ago. Either my dad looks older then he is or I look younger then I am. I suppose that being single without any kids people think I am younger. Another time when someone thought I was younger was when the guy that installed my satellite dish on my house thought I was a college student and I was renting the house I live in. He was surprise when I told him I wasn't a student, worked full time, and owned this house.

I am getting more aches and pains especially when I first get out of bed. My main trouble is joint pain, but I think I have inherited osteoarthritis from my father.

1. How old are you? I'm 45.

2. How old do you think you appear to others? People have mistaken me for my oldest son's sister. He's 25. However, he stepped on an IED in Iraq and was severely injured, and once when I smiled at the sister comment, my son assured me that it's he who looks twenty years OLDER since the explosion! I have been voted best looking mom by his friends, I was recently informed, but not having seen the other moms, who knows how complimentary that is. For reals, I'd say I might look a little younger, but I don't know, a close up inspection in the mirror reveals lots of wrinkles! I act younger so it probably confuses people.

3. How old do you feel physically? Physically I feel as good as I did when I was 25. Maybe better. Most days anyway.

4. How old do you feel emotionally? Emotionally I'm five. Waiting to grow up so I'll be brave like other adults appear to be. I feel hardly any change on the inside. I think I was like 105 emotionally when I was 5 though so it all depends on how you look at it. I'm more comfortable with myself and more accepting of myself now than I was when I was in my twenties, that's what's important.
