In the middle of a time when I was a big Led Zeppelin, Doors, and Jimi Hendrix fan, I also loved "Mandy". Not Barry Manilow in general, but the song Mandy. This caused much searching of my 17 yr old soul
These days, I watch American Idol and I eat way too many doughnuts.

Just thinking- of course what created the sure death of this thread before was the mention of Barry Manilow! The admission of being older than 25 - it's cause for avoidance on this site. Ahh Barry-take me away from all this!!

OMG, are you kidding??? ![]() Sorry, I guess I wasnt supposed to point fingers and laugh or anything... ![]() Okay...this isnt a guilty pleasure but rather a huge embarrassing admission. When I was 10 years old in 1978, I went to a Shaun Cassidy concert in Wisconsin. I also owned a Leif Garrett record. |

My guilty pleasure is food. Gorging on food. I'm not much of a snacker, but the meals I eat are enough for two people. I have lost a little weight over the past year or so by cutting out most deserts, but I'm still overweight by about 20 pounds. And if I lost that weight, my doctor said it could alleviate my sleep apnea.
Still, I gorge. The other day, my wife was working late and I decided to eat a healthy dinner of a salad with some tuna fish. Afterwards, looking in the freezer for something to cook for dinner the next day (I told my wife I'd try to cook once or twice a week), I spotted a bag of chocolate chips. I decided to sample a few. A few turned into a few more. I wound up eating half that bag while standing there with the freezer door open. So much for a healthy dinner. |

This one is so weird that it may be hard for anyone to relate to it as a pleasure. I enjoy pouring over sports statistics. I have a baseball encyclopedia that is worn and tattered from years of use. Baseball Reference is an on-line site I found a few years ago and I can literally waste hours there, usually at 1 or 2 in the morning. I may be the only middle aged man in the U.S. on line at 2 am looking at baseball stats.
I also peruse the Internet Hockey Database way too often.

I think I get it Atticus- you find it soothes you. I also love American Idol. Simon is almost always spot on.- Never quite understood why Paula is there. Perhaps as relief from Simon- yes,she did well in the 80's but her voice seems weak and thin-definitely was enhanced. I rather like the addition of Kara-she has a much stronger background and a better voice. And now that I've gone on and on about it I feel like a bit of a weirdo. Maslow-I think you speak for us all!

You're right about the stats being soothing, Still Waters. I'm kind of freakishly number oriented anyway, and I love sports, so its a great combination.
On the food thing, my diet is terrible. I don't eat a lot, but way too much of it is crap. I've had two pieces of toast and a three muskateers bar so far today. Breakfast of Champions
