Nope, I use my pc. Though after seven years on this thing it's become more of a way to avoid my problems which in itself has become another problem.

I use sleep to avoid everything. If I can't handle something I just go have a four hour nap. I'm rather dependant on sleep as a way to put off dealing with whatever problem I may have.

Yes, I have always used sleep as a way to cope/escape. I think that most people who are anxiety or depression prone do. For about the last ten years or so I've also used my PC and the Internet in that same capacity. Nothing trumps a good nap though!

I only sleep 6 to 8 hours a night. I spend way too much time on the computer. I need to change my habits, they are getting old.

I wish I could sleep! There's a lot of construction going on around my area and the trucks and the noise force me to get up at 6-7am no matter how late I went to bed the night before.
Being tired all the time probably doesn't help my mood much.

I am probably one of the lucky ones where as if I want to sleep I can as I am not working and live on my own.
I used to fight this but now go with the flow. To my way of thinking if you need to sleep, you should, your body is telling you something. I think the internet and forums like this one is the same as "going next door for a chat" and is an absolute bonus for older people like me with SA. Every retirement/aged home should have full internet access for the residents. Wouldn't they have a ball! |

Oh God Yes, I have always used sleep as a way to cope as well. Especially when I am feeling really overwhelmed: I make it as dark as possible, crawl under the covers and "escape" for a few hours. I must admit I have overused this inclination in my younger days and it can be very unhealthy (as we know). I have to say though that I love sleep and require at least 7-8 hours to avoid wanting a nap during the day. Which, at this hour means I will want one tomorrow.
I have a friend who went through a school year depressed who refers to it as the "Year of the Big Sleep." She says she can't recall hardly any memories of that time except for the sleeping.
