Default Seeing a psychiatrist

I'm planning to make an appointment and I want my school to know. I'm currently not diagnosed with anything, but if I go through with this and I get medication/treatment, and I'm diagnosed with anxiety, depression and whatever the **** else I know I have then how do I let my school know? I didn't tell my parents because they'd be against it. They insist there's nothing wrong with me, and that I'm only socially awkward. Its getting to the point where I can't just hide and ignore it any longer. I'm 19 and I live alone now, so I thought: now's a great time to deal with my own problems. If anyone else reading this has sought help and gone through some form of treatment, I'd like to know anything you could tell me that'd help. Please and thank you.

That's really unfortunate that your parents took that attitude, but major props to you for overcoming it and making the decision to get some help. If you find the right therapist, it can really improve your life.

I've only been seeing a psychiatrist for a few months, so not sure if I can say anything that will help you... I guess just try to be open-minded about it, and be discerning if you think that they're not the right one for you - get someone else.

Good luck, and I hope things get better for you.
