Default Good Ways to Meet People as a Commuter

Probably the hardest thing for me in college so far has been meeting people. As a commuter I don't have the advantage of getting to know people on my floor or having a roomate. I have met some people and have a few friends but my social life is not in the greatest shape. I feel like I need to do something more to meet new people and develop some better friendships. I did join the Judo club but there arn't really any freshman in it and it doesn't seem great for meeting people. I also plan on joining the Finance Association which is hopefully better for meeting people. If anyone has any suggestions it would be appreciated.

You're on the right track, joining clubs or playing sports are great ways to meet people with similar interests. Go through with joining the finance association as well, and join study groups for your classes. Look for other clubs/sports/other organizations that you are interested in joining. The more extracurricular activities you partake in, the more people you are gonna meet!

I'm a commuter too. I don't really have anyone that I could call a friend at my college. I do know some people a little though. I think you should just join more clubs and go to different events happening around the school; you're bound to meet friends there.

try to befriend classmates. that helps since you guys are studying the same thing. maybe you can study together, or give each other answers to homework! haha

if you're religious, join a religious organization. i find that it helps knowing people that believe the same as you do and have similar lifestyles.

is there a religious office at your school? at ours, there in an interfaith group. they allow people of all faiths (christians, jews, sihks, buddhists, atheists, pagans, muslims, hindus, etc) to join their meetings. you can meet a lot of different people there. even if you're not religious, they allow anyone to come to learn about different faiths/beliefs/ideas. theyre pretty open, at least at my school.

If that stuff is boring to you, then try sports teams, intramurals, longboarding club, etc. whatever is interesting you!
