It is pretty weird for a guy to come up and read your essay without asking. I agree, the guy was probably insecure about his own paper. But hey, poli-sci is usually opinion oriented and it's hard to come up with a wrong answer as long as you can justify. And there are plenty of famous political theorists who are terrible writers but are still able to get tier point across (not that you are one.)
