Long story short, I've been trying to join another forum - and it's the only one dealing with a particular topic that I'd like to chat about. I am really keen on joining up there. However they're really f-ing me about. I tried to join about 5 days ago, but every time I try to activate my membership it says 'your profile is in the que to be approved by the moderators' or something like that. I emailed the site and they haven't replied - it's been 3 days. Is this normal? I mean, I was able to join up here pretty much instantly. I can't see why the stupid mods need 5+ days just to approve my username (I mean, Zombie Sheep is hardly offensive right?). I haven't posted much on forums before, and I don't troll or spam or anything, so I can't see why there'd be any problem with me. Anyway, I'd like your thoughts. Should I try and sign up again with a different username? Or from a different email account? Or should I just email them again and tell them they're doing my head in? It's bl00dy annoying being able to lurk there, read posts, see stuff I want to chat about and not being able to post. I'd be really grateful if you can let me know what I should do. Thanks in advance! |

I have no expertise in this area, but I guess they've set it up so new members have to be approved manually. Maybe the mod/webmaster is away for a while. Is there anything mentioning this on the site? Do you see other people joining up?

As far as I can tell, there have been a couple of new members since I tried to join. The site is a bit like this one - with an 'introductions' section, so it's easy to spot new members. One of them moaned about how it was really hard to join up. New members do have to be approved manually. But the mods post on the site - like every day - you'd think that one of the lazy b*ggers would pull their finger out and approve my ID. FFS, there are posters on there with swear words in their usernames! I'm not sure what it is they have to 'approve' if they let people do that. Stuff like this makes me paranoid that they *know* something about me and they're blanking me for a reason. Not that I've ever done anything bad online, you know? Never trolled, spammed or posted a wind-up in my whole life. Cheers! Any further comments welcome! |

They may have it set to where the site Admin has to approve new members. Mods don't always have full access.

Some forums I've come across took pretty long to approve membership.(up to 1 week) Patience is a virtue.

Awww.. Patience? B@lls to that, I wanna join now damnit! Anyway thanks, I guess I'll just have to sit tight. If it takes like a month or something I'll email them again.
Amocholes: Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the case. The notification I got in my inbox was from the site admin. So maybe I was being a bit harsh on the mods there. Thanks again for your replies!
