4:05 PM PDT, May 7, 2009 Source: http://www.amazon.com/gp/blog/post/PLNKQWUURBPIFYRV at Amazon.com Video at the website above Regardless of where you stand on the geekfest controversy as to whether the new Star Trek movie retains any of the moral relevance of the previous TV incarnations or movies, most would admit that it would be hard to see the movie not dominating at the box office, at least for a few weeks this summer. In addition, if you are a gamer you might very well have an opinion on the video game, Star Trek: D.A.C, queued to more or less parallel the movie release. The game will be available on Xbox LIVE Arcade (XBLA) and PSN on May 13. I've also seen reference to a PC version, but no details. It appears that it will be a standard arcade Space Shooter with a significant online component--hence the reference to the LIVE/PSN modes in D.A.C (Deathmatch, Assault, Conquest)--but not too much of a connection to the movie storyline. Is this a bad thing, the lack of significant connection that is? Possibly not since games based on movies don't have much of a track record. But if it is simply a decent-good game, now that is different. That has yet to be seen either. The debut trailer below was released a few days ago and unfortunately it paints the game as pretty run-of-the-mill, as does this 1Up preview from late last month. We'll see though on 5/13. The game lists for 800 MS points on XBLA and the equivalent, probably about $10, on PSN.
