If you're on a cable connection that would be one reason why since it's a shared connection.

Are they on the same modem as you? Do you know them at all? I would confront them if you know they are trying to hack your connection.

I love comodo. Much better than windows firewall and more customizable. Zone alarm would be a 2nd favorite and usually ranked even with comodo.
However that's not really what you need to keep someone from stealing your internet. What you need to do is turn on your router's security. You can not only password your connection but also make it not even appear unless someone knows the name. Most router security features won't be broken by the average person, especially with an xbox, unless they have physical access to your router to reset it.

Are you running a wireless connection? If so it most likely is an un secure connection and rly what they are doing is not hacking, just leeching. If that is the case you need to secure it. You can find guides online for that.
If you have a router, well that would be a good firewall right there, and if you have Windows, well Windows Firewall is good as well. Two firewalls would be more than fine with a secure wireless connection. |

Explain how your Internet connection is set up, whether it's wireless or not. If they are truly piggybacking off of you, then a properly set-up firewall or router password will keep them out. But if they're part of the same LAN as you are, then your connection speed will occasionally be slow. Same with cable, since it's a shared connection - it'll sometimes go slow, depending on how many people are online at the time. For apartment buildings on a single cable line, there'll sometimes be a lot of difference in speed.

Hey Cry,
Well I take it you have a wireless router. We need to know what brand of router you have so we can guide you in creating a security key. If you have a linksys router, use this instructional video to create the security key: http://www.metacafe.com/watch/321434..._from_hackers/ We can help you further if you like, but remember that you can find guides online. Just type something like "how to create a security key for (what brand of router you own.) And follow the instructions. It is very simple and shouldnt take long. If you have more than 1 computer using the wireless connection, like a laptop in the bedroom, you will also have to enter the security key or network key into your wireless network to gain internet access for that computer. |

Javascripting?
I've done a lot of javascripting, but I don't see how that's able to break into your connection. I may have some vague ideas, but you really have to explain a bit better. Btw, did you draw that picture in your avatar? It's really good. |
